Department of Philosophy

The Joint Faculties of Humanities and Theology | Lund University

The LUX buildings

LUX consists of several different buildings, both new and old, which have been connected and which all contain teaching premises. As a new student, it is not always easy to find your way around and you are of course most welcome to ask for help at the reception in the atrium, for example. You will find a brief guide below – and make the most of the orientation maps provided!

  • Building A: Here you will find the Department of Archaeology and Ancient History (floors 1 and 2) and the Department of History (floors 2, 3 and 4). There are also a few classrooms in the building and some study places in the stairwell. The caretaker’s office is on the first floor.
  • Building B: On floors 1, 2, 3 and 4 is the Centre for Theology and Religious Studies, while floors 4 and 5 are home to the Department of Philosophy. The faculty office for Humanities and Theology is located on floors 2 and 3. There are also a number of classrooms and meeting rooms, mainly on floors 1 and 2. If you have brought a packed lunch, there is a student kitchenette on floor 0 and seating areas on the entrance floor.
  • Building C: Here there is a large auditorium with 244 seats and a number of classrooms and meeting rooms. The Department of Arts and Cultural Sciences is located on floors 3 and 4. The IT division is on floor 2. On the entrance level, you will find the Humanities and Theology library and the Humanities laboratory. Building C also has two computer rooms on floor 2.

How to find the right room (example): Rooms are designated on the plan with the centre’s name, LUX, followed by a letter and three figures, e.g. LUX:C126. C stands for Building C and 126 is the room number. If the room number starts with 0 this indicates the basement floor, 1 is the ground floor, 2 is one floor up from there and so on.

If you have chosen to study one of the subjects present at LUX you will be joining a stimulating environment. The centre gathers archaeologists, philosophers, historians, cultural scientists, theologians and religious studies experts under one roof. This brochure provides information about LUX along with practical guidance on various issues that affect your studies. Good luck with your studies at LUX!
