Wlodek Rabinowicz
I begun to study philosophy at Warsaw University, but after having been expelled in the aftermath of the student revolt in 1968 I moved to Uppsala to continue my education. There, I defended in 1979 a Ph.D. thesis on universalizability in morals and became an associate professor in practical philosophy the following year. I served as the acting professor and chair of practical philosophy 1987-89 and as the chairman of the philosophy department in Uppsala 1988-93. In 1994-5, I was one of the directors of the Swedish Collegium for Advanced Study(SCAS). In 1995 I was appointed to the chair of practical philosophy in Lund.
My areas of research are moral philosophy, value theory, decision theory and philosophical logic.

Other assignments: Centennial Professor at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Chairman of the Schock Prize Committee, The Royal Academy of Sciences. Long-term fellow of the Swedish Collegium for Advanced Study (SCAS). Co-editor of Theoria since 1996.
Past assignments: President of the European Society for Analytic Philosophy, 1999-2002. Chairman of the Swedish Philosophical Society, 2007-2009. Co-editor of Economics and Philosophy, 1997-2002.
