Martha Nussbaum: Anger and Revolutionary Justice

Öppen föreläsning med: Martha Nussbaum

Martha Nussbaum, Ernst Freund Distinguished Service Professor of Law and Ethics vid University of Chicago, ger en öppen föreläsning den 7 mars 2017 kl 16:15 i LUX Aula, Helgonavägen 3, Lund. Föreläsningen bygger på hennes senaste bok Anger and Forgiveness. The Philosopher of Feelings, The New Yorker 2016 VÄLKOMMEN! .......................................................... A public lecture with: Martha Nussbaum

Martha Nussbaum, Ernst Freund Distinguished Service Professor of Law and Ethics at the University of Chicago, will give a public lecture March 7 2017, 16:15 in LUX Aula, Helgonavägen 3, Lund. The lecture draws from her latest book Anger and Forgiveness. Resentment, Generosity, and Justice 2016 About the book: ”Martha Nussbaum famously made the case for recognizing emotions as genuine parts of ethical reasoning. In Upheavals of Thought, she argued that negative emotions, such as anger, can also be appropriate and important in human life. In Anger and Forgiveness, Nussbaum revises her former view on anger: Her central argument is that anger ought to be overcome because either it is based on a false belief and therefore irrational or it is internally rational but morally narrow-minded.” Gloria Mähringer About Martha Nussbaum: ”Nussbaum has published twenty-four books and five hundred and nine papers and received fifty-seven honorary degrees. In 2014, she became the second woman to give the John Locke Lectures, at Oxford, the most eminent lecture series in philosophy. Last year, she received the Inamori Ethics Prize, an award for ethical leaders who improve the condition of mankind. A few weeks ago, she won five hundred thousand dollars as the recipient of the Kyoto Prize, the most prestigious award offered in fields not eligible for a Nobel, joining a small group of philosophers that includes Karl Popper and Jürgen Habermas. Honors and prizes remind her of potato chips; she enjoys them but is wary of becoming sated…” The Philosopher of Feelings, The New Yorker 2016  WELCOME!
