Abstract: This paper discusses whether better-than relations, as a matter of logic require value bearing relata. Must x that is better than y, be in any sense good (or, in case x is less disvaluable than y, be bad)? Examples are provided that suggest that something can logically be better than something else without carrying any sort of monadic value. Several reasons against this sort of interpretation are considered and rejected
