Higher seminar in Theoretical Philosophy: Fredrik Österblom "A general framework for explication and a defense of uniform criteria"

Fredrik Österblom presents chapter 6 of his PhD thesis on explication.

The first task of this chapter is to systematize and evaluate different accounts of explication. I develop a general framework in which I distinguish between methods of explication, individuated by their criteria of adequacy, and conceptions of explication, individuated by different views and attitudes about the conditions and significance of explications. The second task is to outline and defend a uniform view of explication intended to facilitate rational assessment of concepts across disciplines.
