I am Associate Professor in Cognitive Science, Reader in the master's program in Cognitive Science, supervisor, project leader and senior researcher in Linnaeus environment ”Cognition, Communication, and Learning” at Lund University.
My research focuses on multimodality, cognition and communication. I have been using eye movement measurement to study in detail image perception, the interplay between language and images, the role of images for learning, visual communication, visual thinking (mental imagery), and users' interaction with various media. My research has practical implications for how we design accessible and readable texts in print and on-line. Currently, I am investigating accessibility of visual information via the process of audio description (verbal descriptions of visual scenes for people with visual impairment and blindness).
