Recursive construction for a class of radial functions. II. Superspace

We extend the recursion formula for matrix Bessel functions, which we obtained previously, to superspace. It is sufficient to do this for the unitary orthosymplectic supergroup. By direct computations, we show that fairly explicit results can be obtained, at least up to dimension 8x8 for the supermatrices. Since we introduce a new technique, we discuss various of its aspects in some detail. (C) 20

The Politics of Foreign Policy Change : Explaining the Swedish Reorientation on EC Membership

This study addresses the problem of foreign policy change. While the 1990s has been characterized by remarkable changes in world affairs, political scientists have been slow to study the processes through which such changes take place. Drawing on the limited research that does exist in this field, the study presents an alternative explanatory model of foreign policy change, arguing that states ten

Topography and nociceptive receptive fields of climbing fibres projecting to the cerebellar anterior lobe in the cat

1. The cutaneous receptive fields of 225 climbing fibres projecting to the forelimb area of the C3 zone in the cerebellar anterior lobe were mapped in the pentobarbitoneanaesthetized cat. Responses in climbing fibres were recorded as complex spikes in Purkinje cells. 2. A detailed topographical organization of the nociceptive climbing fibre input to the C3 zone was found. In the medial C3 zone cli

Vertical high-mobility wrap-gated InAs nanowire transistor

In this letter, the authors demonstrate a vertical wrap-gated field-effect transistor based on InAs nanowires [Proc. DRC, 2005, p. 157]. The nanowires have a diameter of 80 nm and are grown using selective epitaxy; a matrix of typically 10 x 10 vertically standing wires is used as channel in the transistor. The authors measure current saturation at V-ds = 0.15 V (V-g = 0 V), and a high mobility, c

Spin transport and spin Hall effect in an electron waveguide in the presence of an in-plane magnetic field and spin-orbit interaction

We study electron spin transport and the spin Hall effect in a quantum waveguide in the presence of Rashba spin-orbit interaction (SOI) and a homogeneous in-plane magnetic field, as well as the energy dispersion relation and spin polarization properties of the electron states in the corresponding infinite system. A general expression for the spin polarization of the outgoing flux, resulting from a

Cooling enhances alpha 2-adrenoceptor-mediated vasoconstriction in human hand veins

The contribution of different receptor subtypes in the contractile response during cooling in human hand vessels is of considerable interest in the understanding of cold-induced peripheral vasospasm as it appears in Raynaud's phenomenon. Subcutaneous vein segments from 50 patients undergoing hand operations not related to vascular disorders were examined in vitro. The temperature in the organ bath

Health-care processes - A Study of Medical Problem-solving in the Swedish Health-care Organisation

Popular Abstract in Swedish Studien avser medicinsk problemlösning i sitt organisatoriska sammanhang i den svenska sjukvårdsorganisationen. The main purpose is to demonstrate how different types of medical problem-solving are affected by the structure of the health-care organisation. This involves the construction of a typology of medical problem-solving processes, and it is argued that the main characteristics of these

Pipeline break detection using pressure transient monitoring

Sudden pipe breaks occur in water transmission pipelines and distribution mains. The consequences of these breaks can be very expensive because of the service interruption, the cost of repair, and damage to surrounding property and infrastructure. The costs associated with the pipeline breaks can be reduced by minimizing the break detection and location time. This paper presents a new continuous m

Recovery of soil pH, cation-exchange capacity and the saturation of exchange sites from stemflow-induced soil acidification in three Swedish beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) forests

Stemflow water acidifies the soil in beech stands impacted by atmospheric deposition. To investigate whether the soil recovers from acidification, stemflow was experimentally removed. A horizon material was sampled at a distance of 10-250 cm From the stems. Before the onset of the experiment, there were stemflow-induced gradients in the saturation of exchange sites with K+, H+ and Na+ that were la

Energy-based throughput analysis of packet radio networks

The increasing use of wireless technology utilizing unlicensed frequency bands calls for more in-depth analysis of interference and coexistence between systems. In this paper a framework is presented for detailed analysis of the performance of coexisting networks in shared frequency bands. The framework allows for multiple packet lengths to be used by the communicating devices and the analysis is

Transplantation of full-thickness retina in the normal porcine eye: surgical and morphologic aspects.

PURPOSE: To report a surgical technique for transplantation of full-thickness neuroretinal sheets into the subretinal space of a large animal with a vascularized retina and to establish the light microscopic morphology of such specimens. METHODS: Twelve normal pigs underwent transplantation of a neuroretinal sheet from a neonatal donor into the subretinal space by means of a vitrectomy-based techn

Soil microbial community structure in relation to vegetation management on former agricultural land

Agricultural overproduction has led the European Union to encourage long-term abandonment of agricultural land. To enhance the transition of agricultural land to natural grasslands or forests different management practices in relation to vegetation can be used. The aim of this study was to understand the interactions between plant and associated soil microbial communities during the succession of

Stories of Achievements - Narrative Features of Organizational Performance

Stories of achievements is a study concerning uses of the notion of organizational performance. It shows the variety of meanings given the notion in dictionaries, management literature, sports, and performance indicators; it also explores how such meanings are constructed and how they are attached to this notion in new contexts, such as in the activity reports of public libraries. Examining uses
