Long-term Safety and Efficacy of Reslizumab in Patients with Eosinophilic Asthma
Background In placebo-controlled trials, reslizumab, an anti-IL-5 monoclonal antibody, significantly reduced asthma exacerbations and improved lung function and asthma control in patients with eosinophilic asthma. Objective This open-label extension study evaluated safety and efficacy of reslizumab for up to 24 months. Methods After participation in 1 of 3 placebo-controlled, phase III trials in m

Reduced order modelling of elastomeric vibration isolators in dynamic substructuring
Dynamic substructuring is often employed to reduce the size of numerical models for structural dynamic analysis. In this paper, we discuss how elastomeric vibration isolators can be modelled within the framework of dynamic substructuring in order to obtain accurate and efficient reduced order models. For several reasons, it is beneficial to divide a structure containing elastomeric isolators into
Thinking fast, thinking badly
We test for the construct validity of the cognitive reflection test (CRT) by eliciting response times. We find that incorrect answers to the CRT are quicker than correct answers. At the individual level, we classify subjects into impulsive and reflective, depending on whether they choose the incorrect intuitive answer or the correct answer the majority of the time. We show that impulsive subjects
Influence of the number of injections on piston heat rejection under low temperature combustion conditions in an optical compression-ignition engine
New combustion concepts are being investigated to develop cleaner engines. One of the most promising is partially premixed combustion. The mechanisms of this combustion mode and its impact on performance and emissions have been studied in the previous years. Nevertheless, little research has been done from the point of view of heat transfer. In particular, the influence of the injection strategy o
Micro-focusing of broadband high-order harmonic radiation by a double toroidal mirror
We present an optical system based on two toroidal mirrors in aWolter configuration to focus broadband extreme ultraviolet (XUV) radiation. Optimization of the focusing optics alignment is carried out with the aid of an XUV wavefront sensor. Back-propagation of the optimized wavefront to the focus yields a focal spot of 3.6 × 4.0 μm2 full width at half maximum, which is consistent with ray-tracing
Balancing authority and autonomy in higher education by implementing an agile project management approach
This article develops and implements an agile management approach in higher education. Such an approach follows core practices, such as project plans. The project manager has to identify the agility drivers that represent changes and pressures; prioritize agility capabilities to take advantage of changes; identify agility providers to obtain agility capabilities; and make managerial choices to man
Measuring KS 0K± interactions using Pb–Pb collisions at sNN=2.76 TeV
We present the first ever measurements of femtoscopic correlations between the KS 0 and K± particles. The analysis was performed on the data from Pb–Pb collisions at sNN=2.76 TeV measured by the ALICE experiment. The observed femtoscopic correlations are consistent with final-state interactions proceeding via the a0(980) resonance. The extracted kaon source radius and correlation strength paramete
Defect-induced infrared electroluminescence from radial GaInP/AlGaInP quantum well nanowire array light- emitting diodes
Radial GaInP/AlGaInP nanowire array light-emitting diodes (LEDs) are promising candidates for novel high-efficiency solid state lighting due to their potentially large strain-free active emission volumes compared to planar LEDs. Moreover, by proper tuning of the diameter of the nanowires, the fraction of emitted light extracted can be significantly enhanced compared to that of planar LEDs. Reports
From plasma to nanoparticles : Optical and particle emission of a spark discharge generator
The increased demand for high purity nanoparticles (NPs) of defined geometry necessitates the continuous development of generation routes. One of the most promising physical techniques for producing metal, semiconductor or alloy NPs in the gas phase is spark discharge NP generation. The technique has a great potential for up-scaling without altering the particles. Despite the simplicity of the set
Two methods for normalisation of measured energy performance-Testing of a net-zero energy building in Sweden
An increasing demand for energy-efficient buildings has led to an increasing focus on predicted energy performance once a building is in use. Many studies have identified a performance gap between predicted energy use and actual measured energy use once buildings are in the user phase. However, none of the identified studies normalise measured energy use for both internal and external deviating bo
