Barriers and motivators associated with COVID-19 vaccination-a vaccine acceptance scoring system based on a population survey in southern Sweden

Low vaccination coverage against SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) is a public health concern. The aim of this study was to identify barriers and motivators associated with COVID-19 vaccination and develop a vaccine acceptance scoring system. From the overall population residing in Skåne county Sweden in 2022 (n = 1 384 531), 3600 randomly selected individuals (aged ≥18 years) received a survey. Questions wer

Advanced organoid models for targeting Kras-driven lung adenocarcinoma in drug discovery and combination therapy

BACKGROUND: Lung cancer remains one of the most challenging diseases to treat due to its heterogeneity. Kirsten Rat Sarcoma Viral Oncogene Homolog (KRAS) mutations are genetic drivers in numerous cancer types including lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD). Despite recent advances in KRAS-targeted therapies, treatment resistance and limited therapeutic options necessitate advanced preclinical models, such as

I mitt examensarbete har jag undersökt hur oBus transportation is a fundamental part of Sweden’s public transport system. To ensure its competitiveness and attractiveness compared to cars, it is important to continuously improve and maintain the bus service. The study examined how different speed bumps impact bus transportation, focusing on two main factors: travel time and passenger comfort. The study is based on speed and vibration measu

The Aesthetic Authority of Law : Experiments with Legal Form

The legal form dictates the contours of law’s appearance. Texts are neatly divided into (often) numbered paragraphs. Pages must conform to specified layouts. Conventions regulate the use of fonts, punctuation and colours. Legal terms of art replace colloquial expressions. Human experiences enter legal texts only in mediated, sanitized forms. The dictats of legal form are all but incidental. They c

Artificial intelligence, human vulnerability and multi-level resilience

Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasing being deployed across various sectors in society. While bringing progress and promise to scientific discovery, public administration, healthcare, transportation and human well-being generally, artificial intelligence can also exacerbate existing forms of human vulnerabilities and can introduce new vulnerabilities through the interplay of AI inferences, pr

Degrowth and business: Towards a holistic research agenda

A growing number of publications focuses on business in relation to degrowth. Such research, for example, considers what it would take for businesses to become degrowth-compatible, what business practices need to be in place, and how businesses would have to relate with nature, human and non-human beings. Although degrowth business scholarship has come a long way in the past couple of years, many

The Peculiar Xylose Sensing of Saccharomyces cerevisiae

Robust and rapid xylose utilization is essential for developing sustainable bioprocesses capable of converting pentose-rich lignocellulosic biomass into renewable chemicals. Saccharomyces cerevisiae is a popular choice for industrial bioprocesses due to its high product yields, robust performance, and stress tolerance. Unfortunately, S. cerevisiae does not natively utilize xylose. Decades of resea

Tool wear and tool protection in metal cutting : in-process interaction between workpiece, tool, and environment

Svarvningen och fräsningen i denna avhandling rör ej ljusstakar i träIn an era where 3D printing and AI are at the forefront, turning, milling, and metal cutting might seem like niche research topics from the past. But metal cutting is all around you. If what you have lying on your desk was not machined, then the tools used to create it certainly were. Even 3D-printed or additively manufactured parts must be machined if a good surface quality is needed for an indus

Lender-Borrower Stock Return Dependencies in Credit Networks: Evidence from Syndicated Loan Deals

We study the impact of credit networks on the interconnectedness between lenders' and borrowers' stock returns using syndicated loan data. We correct for biases from confounding factors and find significant stock return dependencies between small banks and large borrower firms with high default risk. Our analysis shows that portfolios of lender stocks, sorted based on signals from borrowers' retur

Life story templates in dementia care settings : Ambiguous function and direction

As a counterweight to depersonalization, dementia care settings collect personal biographies, life stories, when residents move in. In Sweden, life story work has established itself as an indicator when measuring quality in dementia care. To facilitate the writing of life stories, care settings use a variety of life story templates, with a set of questions to be filled in about the care recipient.

Managing transition to nursing home

Relocation to residential care facilities is a unique type of transition. For most older people it is the lastmove they make in their life when they have no other options. The transition itself involves numerouschallenges. There is a lot of knowledge about the situations before and after relocating to a nursing home, but few studies are based on the actual relocation process. Capital switching, economic crisis, and land rent : Examining discontinuation of Swedish municipal site leasehold in the 1980s

Harvey's capital switching thesis is one of the most influential contributions of Marxist geographers, providing a framework for understanding structural determinants of capital flows into urban land and built environments. Harvey's thesis has drawn criticism in subsequent debates for its lack of direct empirical support. Even decades later, several gaps remain. The most comprehensive intervention

German Trade Unions and Decarbonisation : A Transition to Green Growth, A‐Growth or Degrowth?

While the need for a transformation to tackle climate change is no longer contested, competing visions about the future have taken the front seat in political debates. Previous research on stakeholders in the European Parliament and the GermanBundestag identified opposing views relating to green growth, degrowth and post growth. In relation to trade unions, these have recently been discussed conce
