The article investigates the reception of Carl Snoilsky’s Svenska bilder (Swedish Pictures) in Swedish schools, from the 1890s until today, in the light of the concept of cultural memory. For more than half a century, Snoilsky’s cycle of poems, depicting important events and figures in Sweden’s early modern history, belonged to the literary school canon; three special school editions were publishe

Retaining glycoside hydrolases are enzymes that catalyse the breakdown down of glycans through hydrolysis. Due to the double-replacement mechanism of the retaining glycoside hydrolases (GHs), which form an intermediate with part of the glycan covalently attached to the enzyme, some GHs are able to catalyse synthesis reactions called transglycosylation. In transglycosylation reactions a hydroxyl-co

Recent studies of beetle specimens deposited in collections have revealed five species new to the Swedish fauna to be hiding amongst their closely related species. In some cases, the species known to the Swedish fauna are widespread and considered common, making it easy to overlook the slight differences that separate them from the similar and less common species. Some of these species are restric

How does violent conflict affect the spread of Covid-19? In this paper we analyze how violent conflict influences the adoption of preventative measures and infection rate in a very poor, conflict-affected country, Burkina Faso. The crustal segment Volgo-Uralia is the least known part of the East European Craton. Its crystalline crust is hidden beneath a thick Neoproterozoic to Phanerozoic cover but disclosed by thousands of drill holes. In conjunction with the recent "Tatseis" reflection seismic profile, we conducted the first isotopic study of the Bakaly granitoid block in eastern Volgo-Uralia, which represents a subsur

Delivery of fetuses with intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) with abnormal umbilical artery blood flow in the second trimester represents a clinical dilemma. So far, no evidence based management protocols are available adressing when to deliver these fetuses. The high risk of hypoxia and fetal death has to be balanced against that of extreme preterm birth with associated morbidity. The clinical

Global greenhouse gas emissions from air travel (GHG-A) are on the rise, and projections point towards a rapid growth in the coming decades. This study aims to examine how local government (cities), addresses GHG-A in their Sustainable Energy Action Plans (SEAP). To fulfil this aim, over 200 SEAPs were analysed focusing on three issues: (1) Treatment of GHG-A in local emissions inventories; (2) PoGlobal greenhouse gas emissions from air travel (GHG-A) are on the rise, and projections point towards a rapid growth in the coming decades. This article explores how the notion of participation informs policy documents in a public library context. Library users are expected to manage on their own, to a large extent, as society calls for self-governing, active subjects who are willing to participate. To explore this notion of participation, we utilize the concept of problematization and analyze policy documents regarding the public lib
