From Bluetooth to 5G – meet the researchers behind wireless communication

Long before the Bluetooth symbol started glowing blue ... ... and found its way into the pockets of people all over the world, there was a professor in Lund who refused to give up on a seemingly impossible idea: to replace the cable between mobile phones and headphones with a wireless link. And it was not just any link. It would work at a distance of ten metres, barely draw any power, take up hard

Investigating the role of DnaJ proteins in the suppression of tau aggregation

Tauopathies belong to a group of neurodegenerative diseases that are characterized by the presence of neurofibrillary tangles in neurons and includes diseases such as Alzheimer´s disease and frontotemporal dementia. Neurofibrillary tangles are insoluble deposits that are composed mainly of tau, which normally acts to stabilize microtubules. In disease, tau forms fibrillar and oligomeric species, wHelpers of helpers – co-chaperone proteins and protein aggregation Proteins are one of the essential molecules that make up our bodies and the bodies of all living beings. Across landscapes and seascapes : The movement ecology of diving and flying guillemots and gulls during breeding

Some seabirds we encounter only fleetingly, as they fly by as we walk along the beach, or perhaps meet far out at sea when we take a boat trip. Others though we are more familiar with, such as the ‘seagulls’ that many will not even turn their head to appreciate. Yet, all seabirds have remarkable stories to tell, and we are fortunate now to live at a time where we can follow individual birds as theMost seabirds breed colonially, at which time they make central-place foraging trips. Parents must collect food both for themselves and for egg production/chick-rearing. How should they forage? I followed five species across two sites in Sweden in the Baltic Sea using GPS and time-depth recorder (TDR) devices, giving information on both flight and diving activity. I use a movement ecology approach
