Making digital welfare work: conceptualizing digital compensatory work by frontline professionals

Digital technologies in welfare organizations frequently generate gaps, ambiguities, and misalignments that require professional intervention. Yet prior research has tended to portray frontline workers mainly as resistant or adaptive actors, leaving under-examined their active contributions to sustaining broader digital infrastructures. This article introduces the concept of digital compensatory wDigital technologies in welfare organizations frequently generate gaps, ambiguities, andmisalignments that require professional intervention. Minority Stress and Microaggression Experiences among Sexual Minority Women in Sweden

In the present article we explore when, where, and how Swedish sexual minority women experience minority stress and microaggression. Drawing on deductive thematic analysis of forty-eight interviews, we show that minority stress and microaggressions were experienced in a wide range of everyday life areas. Exposure was described in the forms of physical violence, threats and verbal abuse, ignorance

The living standards of the labouring classes in Sweden, 1750–1900: Evidence from rural probate inventories

We present new estimates of the living standards among the rural labouring classes in Sweden from 1750 to 1900. Starting with a database of more than 1,000 probate inventories of rural, landless and semi-landless people from the years 1750, 1800, 1850 and 1900, we study the development for crofters in particular. In a sub-sample of 120 probate inventories we map in great detail the material items

Radioactivity exploration from the Arctic to the Antarctic. Part 3. The SWEDARP expedition Oct 1988 – April 1989

The Swedish Antarctic Research Expedition named “SWEDARP” was performed during October 1988 through April 1989. The aim of our project was to study the radioactivity in air and water from Gothenburg to the Antarctic. Between Gothenburg and the Equator, the average activity concentration of 7Be in air was 4.3 ± 0.7 mBq/m3. The activity concentration of 7Be in the South Atlantic down to Antarctica v

Back to the Future: The Return of 'the 1980s' in Western Popular Culture and its Political Implications

Over the last five to ten years there has been a re-emergence of ‘the 1980s’ in western popular culture. From music and fashion, to television and film, the decade has made a sustained and emphatic return across many countries. But despite this widespread socio-cultural prominence, ‘the 1980s’ trend has yet to be analysed from a political perspective. Influenced by the ‘aesthetic turn’ movement in

Lokala Partier I Maktposition - En fallstudie om två svenska kommuner

Local parties are a powerful political factor in many Swedish municipalities but haven't gained as much attention as new parties on the national level. In this essay we try to create an understanding of why inhabitants of these municipalities give electoral support to these local parties. Rather than focusing on new political cleavages or institutional changes, the theory by Lawson & Merkl

The Second Wave : The Urak Lawoi After the Tsunami in Thailand

On 26 December 2004, the Urak Lawoi sea people were hit by a huge tsunami that overwhelmed all of Southeast Asia causing the deaths of more than 350,000 people across the region. If the tsunami was the disaster, the “first wave”, the relief efforts and the assistance that came with it became the “second wave”, due to the social and economic changes that followed. The Urak Lawoi have for centuries,

Professional blinders? The novel as an eye-opener in organizational analysis

Scholarly textbooks often follow a logic where suitable empirical cases are selected to illustrate the theoretical and analytical points that we as scholars want to make. But what would happen if we would do the opposite: build a textbook on a novel written by a novelist for such purpose and let the theories explain the actions and emotions of fictional characters? Variation in laying date in relation to spring temperature in three species of tits (Paridae) and pied flycatchers Ficedula hypoleuca in southernmost Sweden

This study documents the advancement of laying dates in three species of tits (Paridae) in southernmost Sweden during recent decades, and the absence of a similar response in the pied flycatcher Ficedula hypoleuca. It is based on several different nestbox studies; the oldest one starting in 1969. During 1969 to 2012, mean spring temperatures in the study area increased by between 0.06 and 0.08 °C This study documents the advancement of laying dates in three species of tits (Paridae) in southernmost Sweden during recent decades, and the absence of a similar response in the pied flycatcher Ficedula hypoleuca. Interaction mechanisms of low-level electromagnelic fields in living systems / edited by Bengt Nordön and Claes Romel.

The alteration of release of calcium ions from biological tissue by electromagnetic stimulation has bien reported by several authors (Kaczmarec and Adey 1974:, Bawin et al. 1975, 1978; Bawin and Adey 1976; Blackman et al. 1979, l980a,å; Joines and Blackman 1980, l98l; Joines et al. l98O). Bawin etal. (1975) reported that 147 MHz radiofrequency (RF) electromagnetic radiation altered the release of The 'ion cyclotron resonance hypothesis' was explored by Liboff et al. (1987) in an experiment involving incorporation of calcium-45 (n5Ca2*) in mixed human lymphocytes. The geomagnetic horizontal field component was'adjusted to 2l pT. The experiment was first performed at an amplitude of the applied oscillating field of 150 pT and a sharp minimum was obtained at the frequency of l43Hz, which corr
