Older assistant nurses’ motivation for a full or extended working life

The aim of this study was to explore older workers’ motivation for a full or extended working life. With particular focus on assistant nurses aged 55–64 years, working in the elderly care sector. Focus group interviews were conducted with five different groups of assistant nurses. Inductive thematic analysis was used to analyse the interviews and five main themes were developed from the data: ‘Org

Synthesis of cyclic carbonates from epoxides and carbon dioxide catalyzed by talc and other phyllosilicates

Naturally occurring phyllosilicate minerals such as talc and vermiculite in conjunction with n-tetra butyl ammonium bromide (TBAB) co-catalyst were found to be efficient in the coupling of CO2 with epoxides to form cyclic carbonates. The reaction was carried out in a pressurized autoclave reactor at moderate pressures of 10–35 bars and temperatures of 100–150 °C. The optimized catalyst system exhi

Search for light long-lived neutral particles produced in pp collisions at √s=13TeV and decaying into collimated leptons or light hadrons with the ATLAS detector

Several models of physics beyond the Standard Model predict the existence of dark photons, light neutral particles decaying into collimated leptons or light hadrons. This paper presents a search for long-lived dark photons produced from the decay of a Higgs boson or a heavy scalar boson and decaying into displaced collimated Standard Model fermions. The search uses data corresponding to an integra

The study has been performed in order to give a contribution to the knowledge of the conjunctival cytology in Sjögren's syndrome. Exfoliated cells were obtained by a tampon from the inferior conjunctival sac of 11 patients affected by primary or secondary Sjögren's syndrome; the material was placed onto a microscope slide and it was stained with May-Grumwald-Giemsa, after the ferning test had been

Comparison of versioning methods to improve the information flow in the planning and building processes

Version management is a prerequisite for digital information flow between phases in the planning and building processes. Information evolves over time and many parties retrieve information from the various phases. The aim of this article is to evaluate versioning methods, focusing on geodata buildings in the 3D cadastre process. The main attention in the evaluation is on the comprehensive ISO stan

Credit expansion and socio-economic heterogeneity of debtors in foreclosure : the case of Sweden 2000–2014

Credit expansion is the trend of households gaining access to more credit. It is correlated with increasing socio-economic heterogeneity of indebted homeowners. Increasing heterogeneity implies that a more diverse span of homeowners is put at risk of foreclosure. This empirical study explores socio-economic heterogeneity in the case of Swedish debtors in foreclosure between 2000 and 2014. Employin

Interference Modeling for Low-Height Air-to-Ground Channels in Live LTE Networks

In this letter, a recently conducted measurement campaign in two suburban scenarios for investigating the low-height air-to-ground channels is presented. A universal-software-radio-peripheral-based channel sounder on-board an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was exploited to record the real-time downlink signals of the live Long Term Evolution networks. Several horizontal flights at different heights

Management Control Systems for Lean Management in Medical Services : A case study at Lund and Kameda

The financial position of the medical insurance system of Japanese government has been worsened recently, and thus the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare has prompted the medical reforms to reconstruct the financial balance of the medical insurance system. As one of these efforts, a fixed payment system for medical services based on “DPC” (Diagnosis Procedure Combination) was introduced to a nu

New separation tools for comprehensive studies of protein expression by mass spectrometry

Mass spectrometry has emerged as a core technique for protein identification and characterization because of its high sensitivity, accuracy, and speed of analysis. The most widespread strategy for studying global protein expression in biological systems employs analytical two-dimensional polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (2D PAGE) followed by enzymatic degradation of isolated protein spots, pepti

Singular Values of Trilinear Forms

Let T : H 1 × H 2 × H 3 → C be a trilinear form, where H 1, H 2, H 3 are separable Hilbert spaces. In the hypothesis that at least two of the three spaces are finite dimensional we show that the norm square λ = ∥T∥2 is a root of a certain algebraic equation, usually of very high degree, which we baptize the millennia] equation, because it is an analogue of the secular equation in the bilinear case

Flow Dominance and Factorization of Transverse Momentum Correlations in Pb-Pb Collisions at the LHC

We present the first measurement of the two-particle transverse momentum differential correlation function, P2≡ ΔpTΔpT/ pT2, in Pb-Pb collisions at sNN=2.76 TeV. Results for P2 are reported as a function of the relative pseudorapidity (Δη) and azimuthal angle (Δφ) between two particles for different collision centralities. The Δφ dependence is found to be largely independent of Δη for |Δη|≥0.9. In

Numerical study on heat transfer enhancement for laminar flow in a tube with mesh conical frustum inserts

Enhanced heat transfer tubes (EHTT) with segmented mesh-conical frustums are considered. Tube diameter and frustum apex angle are fixed as 20 mm and 60o, respectively. The height ratio of frustum and sliced part are set as a golden ratio (1.618). Laminar thermal-hydraulic performance and effects of some parameters, e.g., bottom frustum diameter and pitch, are numerically simulated. The equal equiv

Electric roads : Reducing the societal cost of automotive electrification

In this article five scenarios for fully electric road transport in Sweden are compared, looking at the total system cost for different combinations of battery systems, vehicle equipment and charging solutions, including the use of Electric Road Systems (ERS). The main objective of this work is not to provide accurate price estimations, but to help understanding the main cost drivers of transport
