MSC-Based Cell Therapy for COVID-19-Associated ARDS and Classical ARDS : Comparative Perspectives

Purpose of Review: Despite no general conclusions regarding the therapeutic effect of MSCs on virus-induced acute lung injury in pre-clinical studies, a significant number of clinical trials using MSC-based treatment for COVID-19-associated ARDS were initiated during the global pandemic. Here, we aimed to discuss differences and similarities in clinical trials using MSC-based treatments for classi

Human rights education at Lund University : What are the challenges and opportunities for collaboration?

As of 2023, Human Rights is one of Lund University’s five profile areas. One aim of the Human Rights profile area is to strengthen interlinkages between research and education in the field of human rights and to facilitate collaboration between courses and education programmes at Lund University that explicitly or implicitly focus on human rights. This report is concerned with the latter of those As of 2023, Human Rights is one of Lund University’s five profile areas. Climate finance in India 2023

This report takes stock of the current climate finance landscape in India, along with the estimated financing requirements, enabling conditions and macro policy instruments to achieve national 1.5oC and 2oC goals. Climate change will negatively affect India’s economy leading to annual Gross Domestic Product (GDP) loss of 3 per cent to 10 per cent by 2100 (Kompas et al., 2018; RBI, 2023). In a busi

Using Satellite Data on Nighttime Lights Intensity to Estimate Contemporary Human Migration Distances

For well over a century, migration researchers have recognized the lack of adequate distance measures to be a key obstacle for advancing understanding of internal migration. The problem arises from the convention of spatially defining migration as the crossing of administrative borders. Because administrative regions vary in size, shape, and settlement patterns, it is difficult to tell how far mov

Overweight and television and computer habits in Swedish school-age children and adolescents: A cross-sectional study.

The aim of this cross-sectional study was to investigate the prevalence of overweight and obesity in children and adolescents (6-16 years), and relationships between being overweight and sleep, experiencing of fatigue, enjoyment of school, and time spent in watching television and in sitting at the computer. Trained school nurses measured the weight and height of 2891 children aged 6, 7, 10, 14, a

Fusion of the homeobox gene HLXB9 and the ETV6 gene in infant acute myeloid leukemias with the t(7;12)(q36;p13)

Recently, we and others reported a recurrent t(7;12)(q36;p13) found in myeloid malignancies in children < or =18 months of age and associated with a poor prognosis. Fluorescence in situ hybridization studies mapped the 12p13 breakpoint to the first intron of ETV6 and narrowed down the region of 7q36 involved. By using the sequences made public recently by the Human Genome Project, two candidate ge

Closure after gastrostomy button

A gastrostomy device is removed from the gastrostoma when no longer needed. The aim of the study was to test the hypothesis of whether it is possible for the surgeon to decide which stoma has to be closed with a gastroraphy and which to leave for a spontaneous closure within a reasonable period of time. Out of a cohort of 321 patients, who had been operated with a video-assisted gastrostomy, we in

Apamin inhibits NO-induced relaxation of the spontaneous contractile activity of the myometrium from non-pregnant women

There is now considerable evidence for the involvement of K+ channels in nitric oxide (NO) induced relaxation of smooth muscles including the myometrium. In order to assess whether apamin-sensitive K+ channels play a role in NO - induced relaxation of the human uterus, we have studied the effect of specific blockers of these channels on the relaxation of myometrium from non-pregnant women. In vitr

NSAID visar övertygande effekt vid postoperativ smärta

Non-steroidal antiinflammatory drugs (NSAID) are increasingly being included in the management of postoperative pain as part of a multimodal therapeutic approach. However, there is an ongoing debate among clinicians as to the perioperative use of NSAID's as many authors have cautioned against their use in this setting. Concerns about their impact on coagulation and renal function as well as a risk

Volgo-Uralia: The First U-Pb, Lu-Hf and Sm-Nd Isotopic Evidence of Preserved Paleoarchean Crust

The crustal segment Volgo-Uralia is the least known part of the East European Craton. Its crystalline crust is hidden beneath a thick Neoproterozoic to Phanerozoic cover but disclosed by thousands of drill holes. In conjunction with the recent "Tatseis" reflection seismic profile, we conducted the first isotopic study of the Bakaly granitoid block in eastern Volgo-Uralia, which represents a subsur
