Adapting Under Pressure: Swedish Civil Society Organisations and the Governance of Civic Space in India

This thesis explores how Swedish civil society organisations (CSOs) navigate transnational partnerships under civic space restrictions in India. Against the backdrop of the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA) and shrinking Swedish aid, the study analyses how CSOs adapt to legal, political, and relational constraints. Drawing on four semi-structured interviews and guided by the concepts of

“There is nothing ‘green’ about energy violating indigenous peoples’ rights”

This thesis is a study into how discourses of environmental justice are created in campaigns in a contemporary movement. Using the case of the Norwegian environmental and climate organisation Natur og Ungdom, and more specifically their campaign against illegally set wind turbines on Fosen, Norway, where Sámi reindeer herding has been practices for generations. As a theoretical framework Schlosbe

Is there evidence for the use of art therapy in treatment of psychosomatic disorders, eating disorders and crisis? A comparative study of two different systems for evaluation

Holmqvist, G. & Lundqvist Persson, C. (2011). Is there evidence for the use of art therapy in treatment of psychosomatic disorders, eating disorders and crisis? A comparative study of two different systems for evaluation. Scandinavian Journal of Psychology. As with any type of treatment the requirement for evidence based practice (EBP) has also affected art therapy (AT) when used as an interve

Sports Fan Empowerment through Social Web

This study examines Euroleague teams and their approach to fan empowerment through social web. By combining previous knowledge with new empirical data, the aim of this research is to learn about fan position in power relations of sports industry and see if they get empowered through participation on social web. The study also explains what opportunities are offered for basketball fans on social we

Bevarande och tillgängliggörande av stötande material

The digital and technical developments within the archive community during the last decades reflect how changes has been made in the conditions of preservation and curation of archive material. This has also raised questions concerning the approach to digital and web based documents within the archival community. The digital and technical developments had a significant impact on the social platform

Charging of aerosol particles - An investigation of the possibility of using Americium-241 for SMPS chargers

Climate change is a fact and effects everybody on this planet, whether its humans, plants or animals. There is a comprehensive agreement about the mechanisms on how aerosol particles affect the radiative balance of the earth, but there is a need of more knowledge to fully understand climate change and the strength of the aerosol radiative forcing. The aim of this thesis is to investigate if the SM

Konsumentens ansvar för mänskliga rättigheter och miljö - Industrin med jätteräkor

The purpose of this essay is to show how every individual’s consumption affects the environment and people all around the world. Our consumption has another price than the financial one we pay in the store. In my essay I analyze the different aspects of responsibility of states, companies and individuals. To get a theoretical perspective I used Magdalena Bexell’s theories about the need to expand

Steel decarbonisation in the early 21st century : Innovation, clean power and modern industrial policy

The global steel industry is a complex socio-technical system of strategicimportance, producing close to 10 percent of global emissions. Decarbonizing thissystem will significantly impact energy use, supply chain configurations, andinternational competitiveness, with geopolitical implications. Governments acrossthe world are therefore turning towards industrial policy to accelerate atransformation

Termination of rotational bands : Disappearance of quantum many-body collectivity

One of the most interesting features of nuclei is the process by which specific configurations, manifest as collective rotational bands at intermediate spin values, gradually lose their collectivity and terminate in a non-collective state at the maximum spin which can be built within the configuration. Recent advances in both experiment and theory allow the study of this nuclear structure feature

Evaluation of ML potential for modelling and process control of a reduction annealing process

While many industrial processes have been thoroughly exposed to machine learning models, the realm of powder metallurgy is still underexplored. This thesis aims to investigate the potential for a machine learning model to predict the characteristics of metal powders after a reduction annealing process using time series process data from the furnace. A supervised learning model was developed to pre

Functional Verification of SPI Controller using UVM

Radio Frequency Integrated Circuits (RFICs) play a crucial role in modern wireless communica- tion systems. However, they can achieve high performance only when their internal registers are dynamically and precisely configured. To maintain reliable control while operating in complex multi-antenna environments, several interface techniques have been developed, among which the Serial Peripheral Inte

The State as a Vanguard of Capital: A Discourse Analysis of Congressional Testimony on the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act

The thesis examines how the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) was legitimised during the 111th U.S. Congress. Although ARRA was introduced as a response to the f inancial crisis with the aim of supporting those most affected, scholarship has shown that its benefits were distributed unevenly. Using critical discourse analysis the thesis analyses congressional hearings and house floor de

Board Evaluations: making a fit between the purpose and the system

Board evaluations can contribute to effective boards and improved corporate financial performance. The increasing interest in the practice of board evaluations, however, calls for a more systematic and careful approach than has been employed in the past. While most attention has primarily been focused on the content of board evaluations, this article outlines the features of various possible board

Male and female selective mechanisms, reproductive success and gene flow

In this thesis, I have studied male and female selective mechanisms that can affect plant reproductive success and gene flow. I have focussed on sexually selected traits, mainly pollen competition and maternal sorting mechanisms, for example through non-random ovule abortion. The main question was; what kind of traits can influence the most successful pollen donor or maternal sorting process? I fo

Antennal transcriptome analysis of the chemosensory gene families from Trichoptera and basal Lepidoptera

The chemosensory gene families of insects encode proteins that are crucial for hostlocation, mate finding, oviposition, and avoidance behaviors. The insect peripheralchemosensory system comprises odorant receptors (ORs), gustatory receptors (GRs),ionotropic receptors (IRs), odorant binding proteins (OBPs), chemosensory proteins(CSPs), and sensory neuron membrane proteins (SNMPs). These protein fam

Growing Inwards : Densification and Ecosystem Services in Comprehensive Plans from Three Municipalities in Southern Sweden

This article analyses how urban densification, primarily in relation to ecosystem services, is addressed in comprehensive plans from three cities in southernmost Sweden: Malmö, Lund and Helsingborg. The aim was to investigate and problematise how the comprehensive plans articulate and negotiate how to build dense cities while preserving and enhancing ecosystem services. A qualitative content analy

Assessing molecular simulation for the analysis of lipid monolayer reflectometry

Using molecular simulation to aid in the analysis of neutron reflectometry measurements is commonplace. However, reflectometry is a tool to probe large-scale structures, and therefore the use of all-atom simulation may be irrelevant. This work presents the first direct comparison between the reflectometry profiles obtained from different all-atom and coarse-grained molecular dynamics simulations.
