Segregation graver threat than ISIS returnees in the long run

A few weeks after the terrorist attack on Drottninggatan in Stockholm, researchers caution against describing reality as a black-and-white struggle between good and evil. New trends in the fashion industry – from fast and cheap to sustainable?

Consumers are demanding cheaper clothing while more are becoming aware and reassessing their consumption: second hand rather than “fast fashion”. The sustainability challenges of clothing companies often have to do with long supply chains – and the consumers’ demands. But together, consumers, businesses and politicians can change the fashion industry, according to Johan Jansson, researcher in busi

New pro vice-chancellors want strategic investments in research

Lund University needs long-term strategies with clear priorities from the faculties of what type of research to invest in, agree the two new pro vice-chancellors Stacey Ristinmaa Sörensen and Bo Ahrén. How good is our indoor environment?

We spend 90 per cent of our time indoors. We can both exercise and shop without taking a step outdoors and the indoor trend is on the increase, despite the fact that we have little understanding of the air we are breathing. “The health effects may not be detected for a number of years”, says LTH researcher Aneta Wierzbicka, who is coordinating an interdisciplinary theme at the Pufendorf Institute.

This is a higher percentage than for other large organisations in Lund. However, there is potential for even more people to commute sustainably by investments in public transport and measures to promote cycling on campus.
