The In-group and Out-groups of the British National Party and UK Independence Party: A corpus-based Critical Discourse Analysis

The purpose of this paper is to determine to what degree there are textual and conceptual similarities between the British National Party’s (BNP) and UK Independence Party’s (UKIP) construction of in-groups and out-groups. The focus is on the two discursive strategies nomination (attribution of word form) and predication (attribution of quality). For the present study I adopt the Discourse-Histori

Anterior and Posterior ERP Rhyming Effects in 3- to 5-year-old Children

During early literacy skills development, rhyming is an important indicator of the phonological precursors required forreading. To determine if neural signatures of rhyming are apparent in early childhood, we recorded event-relatedpotentials (ERPs) from 3- to 5-year-old, preliterate children (N = 62) in an auditory prime-target nonword rhymingparadigm (e.g., bly-gry, blane-vox). The effect of an interactive weekly text-messaging intervention on retention in prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV care: a randomised controlled trial (WelTel PMTCT)

Retention in prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) care is critical to prevent vertical HIV transmission and reduce morbidity and mortality of mother-infant pairs. We investigated whether weekly, interactive text-messaging improved 18-month postpartum retention in PMTCT care. This randomised, two-armed, parallel trial was conducted at six PMTCT clinics in western Kenya. Metabolism of 3H labelled arachidonic acid and 14C labelled linoleic acid in essential fatty acid deficient rats

Mesenteric duct chylomicrons labelled with [3H]arachidonic (20:4) and [14C]linoleic (18:2) acid were injected intravenously into essential fatty acid-deficient (EFAD) and control rats. The rats were killed after 5, 10, 20 and 240 min, and serum and different organs were analysed for radioactivity of different lipid classes. 3H and 14C in the triacylglycerol (TG) and phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) fMesenteric duct chylomicrons labelled with [3H]arachidonic (20:4) and [14C]linoleic (18:2) acid were injected intravenously into essential fatty acid-deficient (EFAD) and control rats. Strategisk kommunikation: AI, kognition och kultur, 15 hp

KOMC30 Strategic communication has traditionally relied on the intuition acquired by skilful practitioners in long years of experience and immersion. However, as communicative interventions increasingly take place in multi-faceted and inter-cultural digital landscapes, the “gut feeling” that grows with intimate knowledge of one’s target group is increasingly hard to come by. In this course, we wil

Costly avoidance in pediatric anxiety and OCD : The impact of emotional reactivity and reward sensitivity

A central feature of internalizing mental disorders, such as obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and anxiety disorders, is the avoidance of rewarding situations to prevent the risk of experiencing distressing emotions. Previous research has shown that obsessive and anxious individuals avoid situations where rewards come at the cost of aversive experiences, a phenomenon termed costly avoidance.
