Fathers are expected to play an increasing part in the care of children, but fathers are not automatically included in studies of early childhood. In this paper we present Swedish fathers' experiences of child health care. In the study, a total of 237 out of 279 (85%) fathers of small children were telephone interviewed using a structured questionnaire. As many as 165 (70%) had visited the child h

Finding and maintaining adequate housing is an increasingly serious struggle for many. To what extent the right to housing in international law offers a way out of this struggle is a crucial question that requires careful thinking. This chapter offers a perspective for answering this question by focusing on a particular group: migrants and refugees. To do so, it examines the dynamics of how the ri

This paper examines how expanding the legal definition of sexual assault affects fertility and sexual behavior, using a panel of European countries. I find that switching to tacit consent-based legislation reduces fertility by about 4% relative to the mean. This effect is driven by a decrease in couple formation and an increase in abortion rates. Popular Abstract in English This thesis is about industrialised house-building, put in a strategic perspective. Industrialised house-building is in the thesis described as a process- and product-oriented concept that can serve as an alternative to traditional project-oriented house-building methods and principles. It is seen as an integrated, multi-disciplinary concept that requires an establishedIndustrialised house-building has received increasing attention within both the construction industry and the scientific community during the last 15 years. However, industrialisation of house-building is not a new phenomenon, it has been applied to various extents throughout modern history, although the understanding and descriptions of it have developed over time. Scientifically, industrialised

In the light of a world-wide shortage of helium-3 (3He) a development of novel neutron detector systems (NDS) is necessary. This requires mathematical descriptions of the neutron scattering process in thin films. In this bachelor thesis our aim is to make a probabilistic model of the scattering of a single neutron travelling through a thin film, with main focus on the first scatter occurrence. The

Recent years have seen many changes to the library field, not least when it comes to acquisitions. Internationally, the concept of letting library users take part in the acquisition process has developed over the past 30 years, from looking at inter-library loan applications as purchase requests to systems such as Patron-Driven Acquisitions (PDA). In a Swedish context, user influence has long been

The literature on dalit women is limited and in particular knowledge on young dalit women who have completed a social mobility journey is inadequate. Redressing this, the study enquires into the role caste plays for well educated dalit women concerning being ‘cast(ed)’1 as dalits, their education, marriage and special opportunities. Moreover, this study seeks to understand how these perspectives a

Aim: We investigated the association between levels of leisure-time physical activity and vascular stiffness in a longitudinal observational study from a representative Swedish population. Method: A total of 2816 randomly selected individuals were examined at visit 1 (2002–2005, Men = 1400). After a mean follow-up of 9.7 ± 1.4 years, a representative sample of 1327 of the original participants wer

Coniferous bark beetles (Coleoptera: Curculionidae: Scolytinae) locate their hosts by means of olfactory signals, such as pheromone, host, and nonhost compounds. Behavioral responses to these volatiles are well documented. However, apart from the olfactory receptor neurons (ORNs) detecting pheromones, information on the peripheral olfactory physiology has for a long time been limited. Recently, ho

Natural enemies exert selection pressure on their prey. Predators and parasitoids drive their prey into the evolution of novel traits to cope with this stress. When eggs and juveniles are the target of enemies, defense strategies may rely on adults. However, it is not easy to predict whether adults should actively protect unrelated offspring.
