Turismens påverkan på den lokala avfallshanteringen - En fallstudie av Borgholms kommun

Waste is a growing environmental problem, especially organic waste that decomposes and generates large emissions of methane. In controlled environments, the methane emissions could instead be used to reduce the use of virgin substances, example fossil fouls. A good waste management is therefore of most importance which sometimes can be difficult to achieve.

Upscaling cargo bike sharing - A case study of “LastenVelo e.V.” in Freiburg and “Grätzlrad” in Vienna

There is a need to transform the urban mobility regime to mitigate climate change and improve living quality in cities. Cargo bikes (CBs) offer a promising solution to replace motorized vehicles, especially for last-mile deliveries and private logistics. They show considerably lower carbon intensity, occupy less space and help reduce air and noise pollution in cities. CB sharing relieves individua

Generation On-the-Go : The Use of Cultural Analysis in a Youth Participation Process

The out-migration of adolescents and its ensuing consequences, such as rising costs in infrastructure, are a central concern for most rural municipalities in Germany today. This thesis is inspired by and based on the youth participation process titled “Jetzt rede ich!” (in English: “I am talking now!”), which aimed to answer the question of how a municipality in northern Germany can keep youth and

Elkvalitet kopplad till fördelningsstationer - En studie om förnybara energikällors påverkan på mellanspänningsnätet

The integration of renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power is steadily increasing, which introduces challenges such as voltage fluctuations, reduced system stability, and lower power quality. Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) can support the grid by providing services such as frequency regulation and peak shaving, contributing to a more stable and energy-efficient power system.

D7.5 Thinking beyond the COVID-19 crisis: heritage-based opportunities for rural regeneration

The path towards this deliverable started at the end of 2019 when RURITAGE gathered with the H2020 funded ROCK project, working on heritage as a means for development in urban areas, at the ILUCIDARe Playground (20.11.2019 | ILUCIDARE Playground: Cracking the future of heritage). At this point, the idea to establish a common vision- a European Vision paper for urban and rural regeneration through

1. Rapid Urbanisation and Climate Change In cities in the developing world, rapid urbanisation and climate change are combining to dramatically increase exposure to flood risk among the poorest and most vulnerable (Jha et al, 2012). This is because informal settlements consistently form in high flood-risk areas alongside rivers and other natural drainage paths (Parikh et al, 2012) and because inad

Investigation of groundwater resources - A case study in north-west Tanzania using remote sensing analysis and groundwater simulation

Globally 884 million people depend on unsafe drinking water, of which 159 million depend on untreated surface water (WHO, 2017). In Tanzania 44% of the popula- tion lack access to safe drinking water (WaterAid, 2017). Women and children in the small city of Chonyonyo, in Karagwe district are walking several hours a day for contaminated drinking water. According to a study, carried out in TanzaniIn Chonyonyo, a village in north-west Tanzania, the majority of the population have no access to the groundwater beneath them. Every day, women and children walk several hours to a hole shared with animals, to collect contaminated drinking water for their families’ domestic needs. This report shows that the groundwater resources in the area are sufficient to supply the people of Chonyonyo with fre
