Autoionisation of super excited states in N2 to the N2+ B state
Vibrationally resolved N2+ (B–X) (1–2) and (0–1) emission bands were recorded after photoexcitation of N2 in the 20–46 eV energy range. The branching ratio between these transitions reveals strong non-Franck–Condon effects. Ab initio calculations using a configuration interaction method based on Kohn–Sham orbitals indicate that the autoionisation of certain superexcited states is responsible for s

Repetitive transforaminal steroid injections in cervical radiculopathy: a prospective outcome study including 140 patients.
Study design: Prospective case series. Objective: To evaluate the effect of three repetitive transforaminal steroid injections in a large series of selected patients with cervical radiculopathy caused by spondylosis. Methods: Consecutively, 140 patients with long-lasting medical history, clinical findings, and MRI indicating a cervical nerve root origin based on degenerative disease and a positive
Safety hazards in abdominal surgery related to communication between surgical and anesthesia unit personnel found in a Swedish nationwide survey.
Many adverse events occur due to poor communication between surgical and anesthesia unit personnel. The aim of this study was to identify strategies to reduce risks unveiled by a national survey on patient safety.
Chest wall sarcoma: outcome in 22 patients after resection requiring thoracic cage reconstruction.
Purpose. To evaluate the outcome after resection of malignant chest wall sarcoma, requiring reconstruction of the chest wall.Subjects. Twenty-two patients, 15 with primary tumours, were operated on in our institution between 1983 and 1996. Four patients underwent surgery after a previous intralesional or marginal excision and three patients because of a local recurrence.Methods. The tumour was res

On Some Symmetric Lightweight Cryptographic Designs
This dissertation presents cryptanalysis of several symmetric lightweight primitives, both stream ciphers and block ciphers. Further, some aspects of authentication in combination with a keystream generator is investigated, and a new member of the Grain family of stream ciphers, Grain-128a, with built-in support for authentication is presented. The first contribution is an investigation of how au

Rho-Kinase Inhibitor Attenuates Cholestasis-Induced CXC Chemokine Formation, Leukocyte Recruitment, and Hepatocellular Damage in the Liver.
BACKGROUND: In the present experimental study, we analyzed the role of Rho-kinase during obstructive cholestasis by studying the effect of the Rho-kinase inhibitor Y-27632 on hepatic CXC chemokine formation, leukocyte recruitment and hepatocellular damage. MATERIALS AND METHODS: C57BL/6 mice underwent bile duct ligation (BDL) to induce obstructive cholestasis. Mice were pretreated with Y-27632 (1

Pregnancy and fetal outcome in women with primary Sjogren's syndrome compared with women in the general population: a nested case-control study.
Objective. To study pregnancy and fetal outcome in women with primary SS (pSS) compared with women in the general population. Methods. In a nested case-control setting, variables related to pregnancy and fetal outcomes were compared. Cases (n = 16) were identified through registry linkage (Malmö pSS registry and a database entailing information of all pregnancies and deliveries in Malmö from 1990
Harmonic-generation At the Max-lab Undulator - Report of the 1st Results
By the use of coherent harmonic generation photons in the third harmonic of a Nd:YAG laser have been produced. The laser illuminated the electrons inside the permanent magnet undulator at Max-lab, Lund. The generation proved to be stable and the number of emitted photons, the linewidth and the current dependence were measured.
