Information, identitet, medborgarskap : unga kvinnor berättar om val av preventivmedel
The aim of this thesis is to study how young women’s information literacies are enacted in practices related to evaluation and use of information sources before choosing a contraceptive and thereby to discuss how these practices relate to the young women’s sexual and civic identities. A sociocultural perspective, which brings with it a view on information literacy as contingent and enacted in prac

Guiding requirements scoping using ROI: towards agility, openness and waste reduction
We present a model for supporting scoping decisions that is based on an analysis of the ROI for a given feature. Employing a ROI threshold value for making scoping decisions, the utility of the model was investigated using data from a single large project and identified a group of outlying features responsible for a disproportionate wasted investment. These initial results are promising and indica

Wither the Social Sciences? On Excellence, Rankings, and other Trifles
I argue in this chapter that it is essential for the social sciences to provide explanations and possibly also critical reflections as to how, why and to what end rankings and assessments are imbued with social (and other) values in different contexts. For too long we have delib- erately avoided scrutinizing the very mechanisms that have been framing and often also constraining our ways of ‘doing

Heat Transfer in a Channel under Effects of a Shallow-Angle Jet Impingement and a Rib
Experimental studies are carried out to investigate the heat transfer characteristics involving an impinging jet with a shallow-angle in a crossflow. A rib is applied to control the jet impingement heat transfer Liquid crystal technique is employed to measure the wall temperature and obtain the heat transfer coefficients. In the study, the Reynolds number for the crossflow is 80,000 and the Reynol

Bibeltolkningens bakgator: Synen på slavar, judar och homosexuella i historia och nutid
The purpose of this book is to analyse some of the most dreadful elements in the Wirkungsgeschichte of the Bible, i.e., how the biblical texts have been used as a weapon to humiliate, persecute and annihilate three marginalised groups: slaves, Jews and homosexuals. The three main chapters consist of (i) an exegetical presentation of the biblical passages, to which people have referred as proof tex

On the role of penicillin-binding protein SpoVD in endospore cortex assembly
Popular Abstract in English An endospore, which can be formed by some bacteria, is a dormant and extremely endurable state which helps the cell to survive long periods of harsh environmental conditions. The penicillin-binding protein SpoVD in Bacillus subtilis is essential for the synthesis of the endospore cortex, a protective layer consisting of modified peptidoglycan. In depth investigation of Bacteria of the genera Bacillus and Clostridium can form endospores as a strategy to survive unfavourable environmental conditions. Endospore formation involves synthesis of cortex, a thick layer of modified peptidoglycan that surrounds the spore. This layer is required for heat resistance of the spore and mutant spores lacking the cortex layer can be identified by a simple heat shock assay. B. su
