Longitudinal age-and cohort trends in body mass index in Sweden - a 24-year follow-up study
Background: The aim of this longitudinal study was to analyze whether mean Body Mass Index (BMI), assessed at four occasions, changed within different age groups and birth cohorts over time, i.e., between 1980/81 and 2004/05, after adjustment for possible confounders. Methods: A sample of 2728 men and 2770 women aged 16-71 years at study start were randomly drawn from the Swedish Total Population
Experience of violation during the past 3 months, social capital, and self-rated health: A population-based study.
Objective: The objective was to investigate the association between experience of violation during the past 3 months and self-rated health, taking trust (social capital), economic stress, and country of birth and parents' country of birth into account. Design/setting/participants/measurements: The 2008 public health survey in Skåne is a cross-sectional study with 55% response rate. A random sample

Opportunities for Collective Model and Chirality Studies at Triumf
First predictions for specific case of the particle-hole-core coupling model which takes advantage of symmetries of a triaxial rotor with gamma = 90 degrees are reviewed. Results of the model calculations point towards existence of stable chiral geometry in specific configurations involving high-j orbitals. Next, experimental information on doublet bands built on unique parity, pi(h)11/2(Vh)11/2 i
On the distribution and illocution of V2 in Scandinavian that-clauses.
This paper investigates the distribution of embedded verb second in Faroese, Icelandic, Norwegian, and Swedish. Two conclusions can be drawn from the study. First, none of the Scandinavian languages can be said to display generalized embedded verb second across the board. There are varieties of Faroese and Icelandic that display restrictions of the kind found in the other Scandinavian languages. I
Bis{μ-cis-1,3-bis-[(di-tert-butyl-phosphan-yl)-oxy]cyclo-hexane-κ(2) P:P'}bis-[carbonylnickel(0)] including an unknown solvent molecule.
The title compound, [Ni2(C22H46P2O2)2(CO)2], is located about a centre of inversion with the Ni(0) atom within a distorted trigonal-planar geometry. The cyclo-hexyl rings are in the usual chair conformation with the 1,3-cis substituents equatorially oriented. No specific inter-molecular inter-actions are noted in the crystal packing. A region of disordered electron density, most probably a disorde

Genetic diversity of avian blood parasites in SE Europe: Cytochrome b lineages of the genera Plasmodium and Haemoproteus (Haemosporida) from Bulgaria
We used a nested PCR protocol to examine the genetic diversity of cytochrome b (cyt b) lineages from blood parasites of the genera Plasmodium and Haemoproteus in birds in Bulgaria. In total, 460 birds of 43 species and 14 families (mostly passerines) were examined for the presence of infections. Of them, 267 were recognised as infected with haemosporidian parasites. Mixed infections were recorded
Environmental barriers, person-environment fit and mortality among community-dwelling very old people
Background: Environmental barriers are associated with disability-related outcomes in older people but little is known of the effect of environmental barriers on mortality. The aim of this study was to examine whether objectively measured barriers in the outdoor, entrance and indoor environments are associated with mortality among community-dwelling 80- to 89-year-old single-living people. Methods

Destination Unknown? The Emergence of Corporate Social Responsibility for Sustainable Development of Tourism
This dissertation explores the nexus between sustainable tourism development and corporate social responsibility (CSR). It addresses the scope for CSR to promote sustainable tourism in an international development context. This objective was pursued by exploring three sub-questions: what tools have been used to stimulate social responsibility in tourism; how has ecotourism influenced social respon
Active Surveillance for Low-Risk Prostate Cancer Worldwide: The PRIAS Study
Background: Overdiagnosis and subsequent overtreatment are important side effects of screening for, and early detection of, prostate cancer (PCa). Active surveillance (AS) is of growing interest as an alternative to radical treatment of low-risk PCa. Objective: To update our experience in the largest worldwide prospective AS cohort. Design, setting, and participants: Eligible patients had clinical
The Australian, US, Scandinavian Imaging Exchange (AUSSIE): an innovative, virtually-integrated health research network embedded in health care
Objective: To describe the development, design and function of an innovative international clinical research network for neuroimaging research, based in Australia, within a joint state health service/medical school. This Australian, US, Scandinavian Imaging Exchange (AUSSIE) network focuses upon identifying neuroimaging biomarkers for neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative disease. Methods: We des
Genome-wide association study identifies a common variant in RAD51B associated with male breast cancer risk
We conducted a genome-wide association study of male breast cancer comprising 823 cases and 2,795 controls of European ancestry, with validation in independent sample sets totaling 438 cases and 474 controls. A SNP in RAD51B at 14q24.1 was significantly associated with male breast cancer risk (P = 3.02 x 10(-13); odds ratio (OR) = 1.57). We also refine association at 16q12.1 to a SNP within TOX3 (
Quantitative serial imaging of an I-124 anti-CEA monoclonal antibody in tumor-bearing mice
Objective: The 4.2-day half-life I-124 favors its use for positron emission tomography (PET) of monoclonal antibodies (mAbs). However, high positron energy and beta(+)-associated cascade gamma rays pose image resolution and background noise problems for I-124. This study evaluated quantitative PET of an I-124 mAb in tumor-bearing mice. Methods: An R4 microPET (TM) (Siemens/CTIMI, Knoxville, TN) wa
Electron beam optics and trajectory control in the Fermi free electron laser delivery system
Electron beam optics (particle betatron motion) and trajectory (centroid secular motion) in the FERMI@Elettra free electron laser (FEL) are modeled and experimentally controlled by means of the ELEGANT particle tracking code. This powerful tool, well known to the accelerator community, is here for the first time fully integrated into the Tango-server based high level software of an FEL facility, t
