An Fe(III)-NHC complex has been employed for the green light driven catalysis of base-promoted homolytic aromatic substitution (BHAS) reactions. Tributylamine was used as a sacrificial electron donor, together with potassium carbonate as base in dimethyl sulfoxide as solvent.
