The Third World is a commonly used reference when discussing political and socioeconomic aspects of the contemporary world order. Although it is not used as frequently as it was during the latter half of the Cold War era, it remains a well-known demarcation within contemporary discourses. The aim of this chapter is to present the conceptual history of the term the Third World.
