Needs and Preferences of Swedish Young Adults for a Digital App Promoting Mental Health Literacy, Occupational Balance, and Peer Support: Qualitative Interview Study

Background: Young adults experience stressors in their transition to adulthood and are at increased risk of mental ill-health. This risk is compounded by young adults’ low levels of mental health literacy and limited competencies in implementing strategies promoting mental health and well-being in their daily lives. Previous research suggests that digital mental health apps may be particularly eff

Enhanced glomerular thrombosis in pronated animals with ARDS

BACKGROUND: Prone positioning is part of the management of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and has been demonstrated to successfully improve the ventilation-perfusion match and reduce mortality in patients with severe respiratory failure. However, the effect of pronation on other organs than the lungs has not been widely studied. This study aimed to compare abdominal edema, perfusion an

The crofter is a woman: Gender division of labour in rural semi-landless households, Sweden 1850–1900

This paper contributes to the empirical question of the labour organization and gender division of labour in a semi-landless rural group during the second half of the nineteenth century, a period charac-terized by developing agrarian capitalism. Thereby, we also add to the broader question of the role of gender division of labour in economic transformation. Through a triangulation of sources – cro

Vocational awe is (not) enough : Learnings from early adopters of serious illness communication

CONTEXT: As part of a broader institutional initiative, the serious illness care program was implemented in a multi-site academic primary care practice. After 2 years, a minority was observed to be documenting serious illness conversations routinely.OBJECTIVES: We aimed to learn about the motivations and actions of clinicians who routinely conducted and documented serious illness conversations.MET

Making statistics meaningful : The factorial survey as a teaching tool in social work education

ABSTRACTThe aim of this working paper is to expand the range of pedagogical tools for teaching statistics to social work students, by introducing an innovative tool that is based on the factorial survey and intended for practicing statistical analysis. You cannot pinkwash genocide: Why the (queer) refugee law studies community should be talking about Palestine – and why it is not

Palestinians represent one of the largest refugee populations in the world, and are reserved a special legal status under Article 1D of the Refugee Convention. A number of urgent novel questions are now also arising from the current genocide and mass displacement in Gaza, yet the refugee law studies community on the whole remains silent. This article examines academic silence and Israeli pinkwashi

Four Decades of Hyperfine Anomalies

Isotopic differences in the distribution of nuclear charge and magnetization give rise to "hyperfine structure anomalies" which were observed already in the 1950s. More recently, the distribution of nuclear magnetization has been found to complicate the interpretation of the measured hyperfine splittings in highly charged hydrogen-like ions. In this paper, results of numerical calculations for a f

Hyperfine structure of the 7p state in Fr

By the use of relativistic many-body theory, the hyperfine structure of the 7p state of Fr211 was calculated. By including polarization effects in all orders, good agreement for the magnetic dipole constant was obtained. In the same way, a new value of the electric quadrupole moment is obtained: Q=-240 mb for Fr211(P322).

Radiative lifetimes of the 6 p2P12/0 and 6 p2P32/0 levels in Yb II

Radiative lifetimes have been determined for the 62P12/0 and 62P32/0 levels in Yb II using the method of laser-induced fluorescence from sputtered metal vapour. The results, 8.0(2)ns (62P12/0) and 6.3(3)ns (62P32/0), are compared with lifetimes obtained from ab initio manybody perturbation calculations.

Physics for the whole body

There are many laws of physics involved in the design and operation of roller coasters, carousels, and other amusement rides. Physics for the Whole Body in Playgrounds and Amusement Parks teaches these concepts in an exciting and approachable way by linking them with students’ personal experiences of rides in amusement parks. This unique book features:Immersive elements to learn scientific principl

Drama in Quantum Physics Teaching : Following Uncle Albert and Alice into Quantumland

Quantum mechanics has been enormously successful. The equations and rules enable accurate calculations and predictions of energies and other properties of atoms, molecules, and materials. Quantum-physics-based technology is an integrated part of our daily lives. Still, the understanding and interpretation of quantum physics offer many challenges, with the counterintuitive consequences of the rules

A Pilot-Study into a Novel Application for Inducing and Studying Visually-Induced Motion Sickness in a VR environment

This study presents a digital solution for inducing visually-induced motion sickness (VIMS) using a head-mounted display (HMD) in a virtual environment. By digitally replicating off vertical axis rotation by adopting the Epley Omniax Chair, we induce sensory conflicts between the visual and vestibular systems through rotational vection, alongside optokinetic stimulation inspired by the Optoki-neti

Crisis Management

Tumor resection of advanced pelvic and recurrence pelvic cancers is highly challenging, because the resections often are performed outside the standard surgical resections planes, and therefore are associated with considerable morbidity and mortality. Knowledge of normal anatomy combined with improved imaging modalities and new technology give the best-possible preparation to clarify the tumor spe

The 2022 PSOGI International Consensus on HIPEC Regimens for Peritoneal Malignancies : HIPEC Technologies

This manuscript reports the results of an international consensus on technologies of hyperthermic intraperitoneal perioperative chemotherapy (HIPEC) performed with the following goals: To provide recommendations for the technological parameters to perform HIPEC. To identify the role of heat and its application forms in treating peritoneal metastases. To provide recommendations regarding the correc

Communicating in the Face of Global Crises: Organization, Strategy, and ‘Doing the Right Thing'

Communicating in the Face of Global Crises explores the complex ways organizations and their strategic practices are communicatively constituted in relation to the ethical expectations of global publics.Positioning organizational strategies as communicative accomplishments, an international team of authors redirect attention to the important role of communication in constituting responses to globa
