The role of affective meaning, semantic associates, and orthographic neighbours in modulating the N400 in single words
The N400 has been seen to be larger for concrete thanabstract words, and for pseudowords than real words. Using a word vectoranalysis to calculate semantic associates (SA), as well as ratings foremotional arousal (EA), and a measure of orthographic neighbourhood (ON), thepresent study investigated the relation between these factors and N400 amplitudes during a lexical decision task usingSwedish wo

Evaluation of the Swedish participation in the Halden Reactor Project 2006–2014
This is a report on the evaluation of the Swedish participation in the Halden Reactor Project 2006-2014. The study has consisted in evaluating the types and extent of added value from the Swedish participation in the Halden Reactor Project, and to determine what additional added value the participation could supply for the Swedish authority. It can be concluded from the study that the impacts from

Aid, Religion and Recovery in Post-Tsunami Thailand
The focus of this paper is on aid and relief work after the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami in Thailand. Six provinces in the south of Thailand were hit by the tsunami and the catastrophe is estimated to have altered the lives of more than 50,000 people. A disaster always hits the underprivileged hardest. Many of those who survived the tsunami had lost their homes, families, relatives, and neighbours, a

Deixis in narrative : a study of Kamaiurá, a Tupí- Guaraní language of Upper Xingu, Brazil
The current paper describes the deictic system of Kamaiurá, a language of the Tupí-Guaraní family. The Kamaiurá system of deictic demonstratives and adverbials has a high degree of complexity, including at least 17 different forms, of which several have different functions. The system codes four levels of Participant deixis, with proximal, medial, distal and far distal deixis. Anticoagulant and antiarrhythmic agents for atrial fibrillation
Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common sustained cardiac arrhythmia. AF treatment involves management of precipitating factors, rate- and rhythm control and anticoagulation for prevention of stroke and systemic thromboembolism. The aims of this thesis were to describe clinical practice in prescription of anticoagulation therapy and trends in ischemic stroke incidence among AF patients, to rep
Lessons from jazz improvisation to qualitative inquiry and reflective practice
In this presentation I will focus on lessons from the arts to qualitative inquiry, especially, what reflection on jazz improvisation may bring to qualitative inquiry. First, I will make the general suggestion that qualitative investigations, seen as reflective practices, have much in common with – and probably much to learn from – jazz improvisational practices. The benefits of investing into improved carbon flux monitoring
Operationalizing a Global Carbon Observing and Analysis System (www.geocarbon.net) would provide a sound basis for monitoring actual carbon fluxes and thus getting quantities right when pricing carbon - be it in a cap-and-trade scheme or under a tax regime. However, such monitoring systems are expensive and-especially in times of economic weakness-budgets for science and environmental policy are u

Normalisation of Measured Energy Use in Buildings — Need for a Review of the Swedish Regulations
Normalisation of measured energy use in buildings is important in order to verify their performance in user phase. Two methods for normalisation have been presented in Sweden, static and dynamic normalisation. The static normalisation considers deviating hot water use, indoor temperature, internal loads and external climate. The dynamic normalisation is based on repeated simulation, meaning that t
Performance evaluation of complex fenestration systems
It is known that shading systems often combined with solar control glasses are used to avoid glare and overheating at expenses of daylight. In Dynamic Thermal Modelling tools, there is no assessment method where the shading use is expressed when predicting the building performance. Furthermore, literature often refers to studies where complex fenestration systems are optimized for specific cases.
Evidence of 3D strain gradients associated with tin whisker growth
We have used Differential Aperture X-ray Microscopy (DAXM) to measure grain orientations and deviatoric elastic strains in 3D around a tin whisker. The results show strain gradients through the depth of the tin coating, revealing a higher strain deeper in the Sn layer. These higher strains are explained by the volume change occurring during growth of the intermetallic phase Cu6Sn5 at the interface
Lighting Control Systems to Save Energy in the non-Residential Sector : State-of-the-art, Field Studies, and Simulations
This thesis examines the energy-saving potential for lighting when using traditional indoor LCSs in non-residential buildings. In the study, an overarching theoretical framework is used that distinguishes between energy efficiency and energy saving, as well as between energy use for lighting and functional illumination. This framework also includes the hypothesis that user acceptance is a determin
