Thin-film thermocouples (TFTCs) are critical for real-time temperature monitoring in advanced manufacturing processes where conventional sensors fail due to spatial constraints or complex geometries. This study develops K-type TFTCs on stainless steel 316 L substrates with optimized SiO₂/SiO insulation layers for industrial deployment. In particular, two types of stainless steel substrates were in

We consider a nearest-neighbor stochastic process on a rooted tree G which goes toward the root with probability 1 − ε when it visits a vertex for the first time. At all other times it behaves like a simple random walk on G. We show that for all ε ≥ 0 this process is transient. Also we consider a generalization of this process and establish its transience in some cases.

The purpose of this short report is to introduce a branching random walk in random environment on $Z^d$ where particles perform independent simple random walks and branch according to a law that is obtained by fixing branching numbers at each point of $Z^d$. These numbers represent a realization of an integer-valued random field on $Z^d$ with the value at each point being independent of those at o

In this paper we study random walks with branching. We introduce the notion of recurrence and transience for these processes and provide criteria for them. For Lamperti problem and many-dimensional random walk with branching we nd the critical (for transience vs. recurrence) speed of decaying of the average number of o -springs at a point with respect to the distance from it to the origin.

Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) include many types of organic compounds, such as alkanes, olefins, aldehydes, etc. They have attracted widespread attention in various fields such as food and flavor analysis, environmental and atmospheric research, safety, or healthcare. Developing efficient, practical, and high-value industrial VOC utilization technologies is crucial for sustainable social and h

The selective oxidation of alcohols to corresponding carbonyl compounds is essential in academia and industry. Benzil and BHMF have emerged as important classes of carbonyl compounds that have shown promising applications in materials and drug intermediates, especially in sustainable bio-based plastics. The traditional selective oxidation process generally uses equivalent amounts of oxidants or to

The introduction discusses the concepts of dynasty and state formation and their interrelated nature. It stresses the need to define the concept of dynasty as a kinship group with an acute sense of historical continuity, claiming the right to rule a certain territory and manifesting this claim in political, social and cultural ways; and the related concept of dynasty formation as the acts, conscio

TiSe2 has long been considered one of the best candidate materials to host the elusive excitonic insulator (EI) phase. However, a finite coupling to the lattice can generically be expected, while a lack of "smoking-gun"signatures for the importance of the electron-hole interaction in driving the phase transition has rendered it challenging to distinguish the EI from the conventional charge-density

The rheology of dense granular shear flows is influenced by friction and particle shape. We investigate numerically the impact of nonspherical particle geometries under shear on packing fraction, stress ratios, velocity fluctuations, force distribution, and dissipation mechanisms, for a wide range of inertial numbers, friction coefficients and aspect ratios. We obtain a regime diagram for the diss

A random labyrinth is a disordered environment of scatterers on a lattice. A beam of light travels through the medium, and is reflected off the scatterers. The set of illuminated vertices is studied, under the assumption that there is a positive density of points, called `normal points', at which the light behaves in the manner of a simple symmetric random walk. The ensuing `random walk in a labyr

This paper is about simple random walks on $Z^d$, $d \ge 3$, in a random field of traps, the density of which tends to zero at infinity. We distinguish between the quenched problem (when the traps are fixed) and the annealed problem (when the traps are updated each unit of time). Our goal is not only to find a criterion for zero vs. positive probability of survival, but also to show three differen

The p53 gene product is a tumour suppressor protein, and alterations of the protein are common in human cancer. Previous studies have focused on nuclear accumulation of p53. To investigate if cytoplasmic accumulation of p53 strengthens the relationships to different pathobiological variables and distant recurrence-free survival in breast cancer, tumours from 164 stage II patients were examined wit

Objective. To compare the reproducibility of the standing extended view (SEV) (also known as the standing anteroposterior view) with the semiflexed, postero-anterior view [the 'metatarsophalangeal' (MTP)] view for assessing joint space width (JSW) and osteophytes in osteoarthritis of the knee when used in a busy routine X-ray department. Methods. Forty-seven patients (24 men) had both SEV and MTP

Adaptive data-dependent allocation designs are used in phase III clinical trials having two or more competing treatments with sequential entrance of patients, in order to allocate a larger number of patients to the better treatment. The odds ratio is a popular concept for biomedical practitioners; hence, odds-ratio-based adaptive designs could be very useful in practice. Rosenberger et al. (2001)

Telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT) activity is up-regulated in several types of tumors including glioblastoma (GBM). In the present study, 128 primary glioblastoma patients were examined for single nucleotide polymorphisms of TERT in blood and in 92 cases for TERT promoter mutations in tumors. TERT promoter mutations were observed in 86% of the tumors and of these, C228T (-124 bp upstream sta

Clinical tools to guide treatment decisions in relapsed/refractory mantle cell lymphoma (R/R MCL) are limited. Moreover, the translational potential of circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) remains largely unproven. We designed and applied panel-based duplex sequencing of ctDNA to study molecular determinants of response and outcome in 58 patients with R/R MCL treated with venetoclax, lenalidomide, and ri
