Oxidation of dissolved sulfur dioxide, SO2·nH2O, HSO3– and SO32–, by hexaaquathallium(III) has been studied in acidic aqueous solution with ionic strength 1.0 mol dm–3 at 25 °C. The stoichiometry of the reaction has been determined: [Tl(H2O)6]3++ SO2(aq)+ 2H2O →[Tl(H2O)6]++ HSO4–+ 3H+. The kinetics has been studied by use of stopped-flow spectrophotometry under pseudo-first-order conditions with eOxidation of dissolved sulfur dioxide, SO2·nH2O, HSO3– and SO32–, by hexaaquathallium(III) has been studied in acidic aqueous solution with ionic strength 1.0 mol dm–3 at 25 °C. Uansett hva slags celComplex I or NADH:quinone oxidoreductase is the largest enzyme complex, but the least understood energy coupling site in the respiratory chain of mitochondria and bacteria. No high-resolution structural information exists for this enzyme and the molecular mechanism that couples electron transfer and proton pumping is not understood. In mammals, about 50% of the mitochondrial DNA is encoding protei

The problem of ‘naked statistical evidence’ is one of the most debated issues in evidence theory. Most evidence scholars agree that it is deeply problematic to base a verdict on naked statistical evidence, but they disagree on why it is problematic, and point to different characteristics of naked statistical evidence as the root of the problem. Rural areas are regaining attention as key resource holders. This includes the attractiveness of intact and traditional cultural elements and heritage which helps to create new opportunities. However, renewal is needed for rural areas to be competitive beyond tourism. Knowledge exchange and transfer is seen as an enabling tool for regeneration and heritage valorization, although it has mostly been

When a public body engages in public procurement the main purpose for it to do so is arguably to satisfy a need for goods, services or works. A starting point for public procurement is that it is the procuring entity which identifies its own needs and thus determines what is to be procured. In addition to the purpose of satisfying its primary procurement needs, a contracting entity, however, may h

This paper investigates how multilingual speakers may recognize compounds, focusing on the theory that a multilingual recognizes a compound equivalent of a compound faster than a monomorphemic equivalent of a compound. To test this, I administered a translation recognition task to native speakers of Swedish who spoke English as their first L2. The informants were shown the pairs in sequence and ei

The humanities are often an afterthought, an afterthought when we discuss open “science”, open data plans or new forms of research evaluation to name just a few random topics. W
