Virus tros påverka utvecklingen av autoantikroppar och typ 1-diabetes.Urvalet bestod av 24 TEDDY-barn som hade utvecklat autoimmun (typ 1) diabetes inom 6 månader efter upptäckt av den första autoantikroppen. TEDDY studien är krävande för både barn och föräldrar. Målet att ta reda på varför barn utvecklar autoimmun (typ 1) diabetes kräver att deltagarna är nöjda och stannar i studien fram till att TEDDY barnet fyller 15 år.Båda föräldrarna har fyllt i frågeformulär om hur nöjda de var med att delta i TEDDY.
