Fine-Scale Mapping of the FGFR2 Breast Cancer Risk Locus: Putative Functional Variants Differentially Bind FOXA1 and E2F1

The 10q26 locus in the second intron of FGFR2 is the locus most strongly associated with estrogen-receptor-positive breast cancer in genome-wide association studies. We conducted fine-scale mapping in case-control studies genotyped with a custom chip (iCOGS), comprising 41 studies (n = 89,050) of European ancestry, 9 Asian ancestry studies (n = 13,983), and 2 African ancestry studies (n = 2,028) f

Measurement of the cross section for diffractive deep-inelastic scattering with a leading proton at HERA

The cross section for the diffractive deep-inelastic scattering process ep -> eXp is measured, with the leading final state proton detected in the H1 Forward Proton Spectrometer. The data sample covers the range x(P) < 0.1 in fractional proton longitudinal momentum loss, 0.1 < vertical bar t vertical bar < 0.7 GeV2 in squared four-momentum transfer at the proton vertex and 4 < Q(2) < 700 GeV2 in p

Measurement of charm and beauty jets in deep inelastic scattering at HERA

Measurements of cross sections for events with charm and beauty jets in deep inelastic scattering at HERA are presented. Events with jets of transverse energy E-T(jet) > 6 GeV and pseudorapidity - 1.0 < eta(jet) < 1.5 in the laboratory frame are selected in the kinematic region of photon virtuality Q(2) > 6 GeV2 and inelasticity variable 0.07 < y < 0.625. Measurements are also made requiring a jet

Inelastic production of J/psi mesons in photoproduction and deep inelastic scattering at HERA

A measurement is presented of inelastic photoand electroproduction of J/psi mesons in ep scattering at HERA. The data were recorded with the H1 detector in the period from 2004 to 2007. Single and double differential cross sections are determined and the helicity distributions of the J/psi mesons are analysed. The results are compared to theoretical predictions in the colour singlet model and in t

Common Variants at the 19p13.1 and ZNF365 Loci Are Associated with ER Subtypes of Breast Cancer and Ovarian Cancer Risk in BRCA1 and BRCA2 Mutation Carriers.

BACKGROUND: Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) identified variants at 19p13.1 and ZNF365 (10q21.2) as risk factors for breast cancer among BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutation carriers, respectively. We explored associations with ovarian cancer and with breast cancer by tumor histopathology for these variants in mutation carriers from the Consortium of Investigators of Modifiers of BRCA1/2 (CIMBA). Formation of dense partonic matter in relativistic nucleus-nucleus collisions at RHIC: Experimental evaluation by the PHENIX Collaboration

Extensive experimental data from high-energy nucleus-nucleus collisions were recorded using the PHENIX detector at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC). The comprehensive set of measurements from the first three years of RHIC operation includes charged particle multiplicities, transverse energy, yield ratios and spectra of identified hadrons in a wide range of transverse momenta (PT), ellipt

Global tracking of marine megafauna space use reveals how to achieve conservation targets

The recent Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) sets ambitious goals but no clear pathway for how zero loss of important biodiversity areas and halting human-induced extinction of threatened species will be achieved. We assembled a multi-taxa tracking dataset (11 million geopositions from 15,845 tracked individuals across 121 species) to provide a global assessment of space use of

The case of clausal arguments in Icelandic Mirko Garofalo University of Iceland mig@hi.is Abstract The paper proposes that case assignment and D-features are mainly responsible for the dis- tribution of nominalized and bare clausal arguments in Icelandic. The data show that clausal arguments without the determiner það (‘that’) are only allowed when they are assigned struc- tural case or in caseles
