Costly avoidance in pediatric anxiety and OCD : The impact of emotional reactivity and reward sensitivity

A central feature of internalizing mental disorders, such as obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and anxiety disorders, is the avoidance of rewarding situations to prevent the risk of experiencing distressing emotions. Previous research has shown that obsessive and anxious individuals avoid situations where rewards come at the cost of aversive experiences, a phenomenon termed costly avoidance. Paul's Argumentation in Galatians : A Pragma-dialectical Analysis of Gal. 3.1–5.12

As one of the most important texts of the apostle Paul, Galatians offers a goodstarting-point for an investigation of Paul’s argumentation. The letter is polemical and contains a substantial amount of argumentative passages. Paul evidently wanted to persuade by using the best arguments possible to convince his addressees. Although the argumentation of Paul is often an issue within New Testament ex

Transplantation möjlighet vid kolorektala levermetastaser

Surgical treatment of liver metastases from colorectal cancer (CLM) is the only treatment option with curative potential; however, only about 15% to 20% of the patients seen at major hospitals are candidates for surgical resection. In a prospective study of liver transplantation (Ltx) for non-resectable CLM a 5-year overall survival rate of 60 % has been shown. We now plan to evaluate if the addit

Surgical outcomes in patients with haemophilia A or B receiving extended half-life recombinant factor VIII and IX Fc fusion proteins : Real-world experience in the Nordic countries

Introduction: Perioperative dosing recommendations vary across Nordic haemophilia treatment centres (HTCs) for extended half-life (EHL) factor concentrates in haemophilia A/B (HA/HB) patients. Aim: To summarise Nordic real-world surgical experiences with EHL recombinant factor VIII/IX Fc (rFVIIIFc/rFIXFc) fusion proteins using retrospective data from clinical records at four HTCs in Finland, Swede

Copula approach to fitting bivariate time series

We apply the GARCH-copula method to estimate Value at Risk (VaR) for European and Stockholm stock indices. First, marginal distributions are estimated by the ARMA-GARCH model with normal, Student-t, and skewed t distributions. Then we investigate the tails of innovations of ARMA-GARCH models using the Peaks over thresholds method and find that the distributions of stock returns are asymmetric

English Summary This master thesis concerns the lives of spouses to someone who is incurably sick and dying. The study took place in the homes of married couples where one of them is incurably sick with cancer. I have visited the couples talked with them and interviewed them, some together and some separately. This has made the empirical foundation for the present thesis. It becomes clear that th

Machine Learning as a Data Driven Approach to Automate Multivariate Matching Methods

This paper introduces machine learning to automate the coarsening choices in coarsened exact matching (CEM) as a monotonic imbalance bounding matching class. I suggest to replace the otherwise arbitrary multivariate stratification process with a binary classification tree. This way, I can minimise potential bias caused by subjective preferences. By using the LaLonde (1986) dataset, I systematicall

Risk Shifting or Risk Management: How do Firms Hedge in Financial Distress?

In this paper we address the question of how firms hedge in financial distress. Extending the scope of alchemical perturbation methods for ligand binding free energy calculations

Previously, a method for computing binding free energies between different poses of a ligand bound to a protein using alchemical perturbation was developed. The methodology is to perturb the ligand into a smaller version, common to both poses, from which the difference in free energy between poses can be computed. Here, the method is further improved by finding low-error setups for the method, by
