Measurement of single top-quark production in association with a W boson in the single-lepton channel at √s=8TeV with the ATLAS detector

The production cross-section of a top quark in association with a W boson is measured using proton–proton collisions at s√=8TeV. The dataset corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 20.2fb−1, and was collected in 2012 by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. The analysis is performed in the single-lepton channel. Events are selected by requiring one isolated lepton (electron o

Healthcare professionals' perceived barriers and facilitators of health behavior support provision : A qualitative study

Background: Childhood cancer survivors (CCSs) have an increased risk of developing chronic health conditions. Evidence suggests that poor health behaviors further increase health risks. Healthcare professionals (HCPs) involved in survivorship care have a key role in providing health behavior support (HBS) but can feel limited in their ability to do so. This study aims to explore European HCPs perc

Sustainability Performance Indicators at Shop Floor Level in Large Manufacturing Companies

This article investigates sustainability in the performance measurement systems of Swedish manufacturing companies. It builds on a previous study that documents relatively few direct environmental indicators at shop floor level, which raises questions about possible indirect links between existing indicators and the environment that could be used to improve the environmental aspect of company's su

Shear-induced nanostructural changes in micelles formed by sugar-based surfactants with varied anomeric configuration

Hypothesis: The self-assembly of long tail sugar-based surfactants into worm-like micelles has recently been demonstrated, and the rheological properties of such systems have been shown to be tuneable through subtle modifications of the molecular characteristics of the surfactant monomer. In particular, the anomeric configuration of the hexadecylmaltoside headgroup was shown to induce profound cha

IMPACT OF A TERTIARY ELIGIBILITY THRESHOLD ON TERTIARY EDUCATION AND EARNINGS : A DISCONTINUITY APPROACH

This study uses a discontinuity in the Swedish tertiary eligibility requirement to estimate the probability of enrolling in tertiary education, and the payoff thereof. Regression discontinuity results, show that achieving tertiary eligibility in upper-secondary education, increases the probability of enrolling in tertiary education by around 10–15 and 7 percentage points for students who enrolled

A Process for Improved Decision-Support based on Probabilistic Methods for Risk Analysis and Building Energy Performance

This paper presents a preliminary method developed for improved decision-support based on probabilistic methods for risk assessment using building performance simulations. The aim of the method is to support the decision-maker in all stages of the building process when deciding on the design of a building by including uncertainties and quantifying; the probability of fulfilling objectives; energy

Enzyme based amperometric biosensors

Current research on enzyme based electrochemical biosensors deals essentially with the same target analytes as was at focus in the early days of biosensor research, that is those within the clinical/medical, food/agriculture, and environmental fields [1•–13]. However, there has been substantial progress through the years and progress continues, as resumed in Figure 1A. One of the major differences

Model-Independent Odderon Results Based on New TOTEM Data on Elastic Proton–Proton Collisions at 8 TeV

Evaluating the (Formula presented.) scaling function of elastic proton–proton ((Formula presented.)) collisions from recent TOTEM data at (Formula presented.) TeV and comparing it with the same function of elastic proton–antiproton ((Formula presented.)) data of the D0 collaboration at (Formula presented.) TeV, we find, from this comparison alone, an at least 3.79 (Formula presented.) signal of od

Initiating and anchoring an academic course on societal collaboration: A story about 'someotherism' and a need for reflexivity

Collaboration between academia and society has become a key priority for many higher education institutions (HEIs). In Sweden, this is partly driven by political calls to secure the long-term provision of knowledge, innovation and competitiveness. At the system and institutional level, responses to this are reflected in governance structures and strategic documents. However, those strategic respon

Sensory Clusters of Adults With and Without Autism Spectrum Conditions

We identified clusters of atypical sensory functioning adults with ASC by hierarchical cluster analysis. A new scale for commonly self-reported sensory reactivity was used as a measure. In a low frequency group (n = 37), all subscale scores were relatively low, in particular atypical sensory/motor reactivity. In the intermediate group (n = 17) hyperreactivity, sensory interests and sensory/motor i
