Background: Nervous system involvement is among the most complex and consequential aspects of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). It includes clinically overt neuropsychiatric SLE (NPSLE) manifestations and potentially subclinical involvement. This thesis aimed to increase the understanding of nervous system involvement in SLE through biomarker studies and a population-based epidemiological study.
