Uppsatsen handlar om relativt nyanlända invandrare som fått uppehållstillstånd i Sverige med flyktingskäl och som har utländska ingenjörsutbildningar. Övergripande målet för vår forskning är att undersöka hur miljöfaktorer associerade med utveckling av typ 2-diabetes (T2D) påverkar frisättning av insulin och glukagon från bukspottkörtelns Langerhanska öar. Insulin och glukagon reglerar reciprokt blodets glukosnivåer. Insulin minskar blodglukoskoncentrationer efter måltid, glukagon medverkar till ökade nivåer av glukos vid fasta och ansträngn.
