The current use of a 30 million year dateline for accepting genera in the Parmeliaceae is evaluated. Its value is doubtful since evolution obviously went quicker in some lichen groups compared with others. Parallel evolution is also very common among lichens. Polyphyletic genera should always be split, while sister groups may remain split or be combined after considering non-molecular characters.

Det behövs biomarkörer för att förutsäga när en person med två eller flera ö-cells autoantikroppar är på väg att utveckla autoimmun (typ 1) diabetes. Amning har många fördelar för barnets uppväxt och hälsa. Därför kändes det viktigt att undersöka om risken för utveckling av autoantikroppar, allergi och övervikt påverkades av hur många månader TEDDY- barnen ammades.Alla 8676 TEDDY- barn i studien undersöktes och följdes från 3 – 10 år för att ta reda på vilka barn som utvecklade en autoantikropp mot insulin (IAA), GAD65 (GADA) och IA-2 (IA-2A).
