TEDDY studien är krävande för både barn och föräldrar. Målet att ta reda på varför barn utvecklar autoimmun (typ 1) diabetes kräver att deltagarna är nöjda och stannar i studien fram till att TEDDY barnet fyller 15 år.Båda föräldrarna har fyllt i frågeformulär om hur nöjda de var med att delta i TEDDY. Det är många barn i TEDDY som utvecklat autoantikroppar mot vävnadstransglutaminas (TGA) och senare diagnosticerats med celiaki. Sjukdomen behandlas med glutenfri kost för resten av livet. Syftet med studien var att undersöka hur väl barnen kunde följa den glutenfria kosten.I TEDDY har 8 676 barn deltagit i studien från det att barnen var 3–4 månader gamla.
