The Asymptotic Complexity of Coded-BKW with Sieving Using Increasing Reduction Factors

The Learning with Errors problem (LWE) is one of the main candidates for post-quantum cryptography. At Asiacrypt 2017, coded-BKW with sieving, an algorithm combining the Blum-Kalai-Wasserman algorithm (BKW) with lattice sieving techniques, was proposed. In this paper, we improve that algorithm by using different reduction factors in different steps of the sieving part of the algorithm. In the Rege

Making MLSD decisions by thresholding the matched filter output

This paper presents an iterative detector that, by thresholding the output of the matched filter, gives maximum-likelihood sequence detector (MLSD) decisions on binary, antipodally modulated symbols that have been corrupted by intersymbol interference and additive Gaussian noise. The detector will make decisions on some, but often not all, of the symbols in a transmitted sequence, and those decisi

Restricted mesh simplification using edge contractions

We consider the problem of simplifying a triangle mesh using edge contractions, under the restriction that the resulting vertices must be a subset of the input set. That is, contraction of an edge must be made onto one of its adjacent vertices. In order to maintain a high number of contractible edges under this restriction, a small modification of the mesh around the edge to be contracted is allow

Porträtterad nöd - berättelser om hemlösa

The Swedish welfare state has undergone structural changes in the last few decades, involving various cutback programmes and the decentralization of public service to the municipalities, with a shift from universal to more means-tested rights. Some of the responsibility for service to the very poorest people has been passed on to the family, the market and voluntary organizations. This has been pa

Close Approximations of Minimum Rectangular Coverings

We consider the problem of covering arbitrary polygons with rectangles. The rectangles must lie entirely within the polygon. (This requires that the interior angles of the polygon are all greater than or equal to 90 degrees.) We want to cover the polygon with as few rectangles as possible. This problem has an application in fabricating masks for integrated circuits. In this paper we will describe

Experimental Pd II oscillator strengths and the palladium abundance in the HgMn-type star chi Lupi

Experimental oscillator strengths for 19 ultraviolet lines of Pd II have been derived from measurements of line intensities in calibrated Fourier transform spectra, combined with picosecond-pulse laser measurements of radiative lifetimes. Five of these 19 lines, in addition to other Pd nr lines, are present in Hubble Space Telescope/Goddard High-Resolution Spectrograph echelle spectra of the chemi

The relation between wave asymmetry and particle orbits analysed by Slepian models

The statistical relation between ocean wave geometry and water particle movements can be formulated in the stochastic Gauss-Lagrange model. In this paper we use Slepian models to get detailed information of the sea surface elevation in the neighbourhood of local maxima in a Gaussian wave model and of the movements of the top particle of the waves. We present full conditional distributions of the GThe statistical relation between ocean wave geometry and water particle movements can be formulated in the stochastic Gauss-Lagrange model. Inre utlänningskontroll i polisarbete : mellan rättsstatsideal och effektivitet i Schengens Sverige

This thesis analyses police officers' work with internal control of foreigners through a discussion of, among other things, the nation-state, rule of law ideals as well as the police profession and the conditions surrounding that profession. Internal control of foreigners, practised by police officers has two main aims: to control migration and to fight crime amongst people unauthorised to reside

Coded-BKW with Sieving

The Learning with Errors problem (LWE) has become a central topic in recent cryptographic research. In this paper, we present a new solving algorithm combining important ideas from previous work on improving the BKW algorithm and ideas from sieving in lattices. The new algorithm is analyzed and demonstrates an improved asymptotic performance. For Regev parameters q = n^2 and noise level \sigma = n

Making MLSD-decisions on some individual symbols in a sequence by thresholding the matched filter output

We present a detector that, by thresholding the output of the matched filter, gives MLSD-decisions on binary, antipodally modulated symbols that have been corrupted by intersymbol interference and additive Gaussian noise. The detector is simple in structure, consisting of a whitened matched filter and two variable thresholds for each symbol to be detected. The detector will make decisions on some,
