Increased catalase levels and hypoxanthine-enhanced nitro-blue tetrazolium staining in rat retina after ischemia followed by recirculation

In the present study, using retinal ischemia as a model, we examined if different periods of ischemia and recirculation influenced the generation of reactive oxygen species, i.e. in hydrogen peroxide generation and nitroblue tetrazolium (NBT) reduction. Ischemia was induced for 30 and 90 min by ligation of the optic nerve with the vessels and recirculation was established by removing the ligature.

Decoding of the surfaceome and endocytome in primary glioblastoma cells identifies potential target antigens in the hypoxic tumor niche

Immunotherapies with antibody-drug-conjugates (ADC) and CAR-T cells, targeted at tumor surface antigens (surfaceome), currently revolutionize clinical oncology. However, target identification warrants a better understanding of the surfaceome and how it is modulated by the tumor microenvironment. Here, we decode the surfaceome and endocytome and its remodeling by hypoxic stress in glioblastoma (GBM

Drum sound from floor coverings - objective and subjective assessment

En prediktionsmodell för den subjektiva responsen av trumljud vid en parvis jämförelse har tagits fDrum sound is the sound produced when an object, such as a foot, hits the flooring in the room in which the receiving ear is located. Drum sound has attracted interest in recent years, particularly due to an increased use of thin floating floor constructions, such as veneer or laminate flooring, which can produce loud and sharp walking sound. A prediction model of the subjective response, in a pai

Surface temperature measurements in the cone calorimeter using phosphorescence

The Cone Calorimeter is the most complete reaction-to fire test apparatus available presently. It measures heat release rates and mass loss rate, ignitability properties and smoke and toxic gas production rate. One of the main advantages remains in its wide spread and use. There are, however, some drawbacks in the cone calorimeter that should be noticed and maybe corrected for. The sample size is

Bench-scale Fire Stability Assessment of Cross-Laminated Timber

As mass timber construction gains momentum worldwide, cross-laminated timber (CLT) has emerged as an important material in the built environment. However, the combustible nature of wood presents challenges and fire safety concerns, and a key interest with respect to CLT is the adhesive bond line. CLT is commonly used in ceiling configuration, and current fire stability evaluations rely predominant

Riskmodell för utökat underhållsintervall på ångturbiner

The purpose of this project was to create a risk model for extended time between major overhauls on steam turbines. The project was created by Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery who develops and manufactures steam turbines and performs maintenance. It is the turbine users who have requested a longer time in order to reduce maintenance costs and increase availability. Prior to the work, external and

Voices of the flight-free visionary : an overview of the ‘staying on the ground’ narratives and their position in relation to (neoliberal) mobility hegemony

Trots att forskning har undersökt motivatiThe Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change is encouraging profound and rapid transformation in every economic sector to mitigate escalating climate change. In this context, a public and political debate about aviation as a high-carbon source has emerged in Sweden with growing numbers of people declaring that they are “staying on the ground”. Despite increased research that explores the motivati

The inflammatory mediator leukotriene D4 induces beta -catenin signaling and its association with anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 in intestinal epithelial cells.

Increased levels of the inflammatory mediator leukotriene D-4 (LTD4) are present at sites of inflammatory bowel disease, and such areas also exhibit an increased risk for subsequent cancer development. It is known that LTD4 affects the expression of many proteins that influence survival and proliferation of intestinal epithelial cells. We demonstrate here that after LTD4 exposure, beta-catenin tra

Greenhouse gas performance of biochemical biodiesel production from straw : Soil organic carbon changes and time-dependent climate impact

Background: Use of bio-based diesel is increasing in Europe. It is currently produced from oilseed crops, but can also be generated from lignocellulosic biomass such as straw. However, removing straw affects soil organic carbon (SOC), with potential consequences for the climate impact of the biofuel. This study assessed the climate impacts and energy balance of biodiesel production from straw usin

Structural, optical, and luminescence properties of ZnO:Ga optical scintillation ceramic

This paper discusses the characteristics of ZnO and ZnO:Ga ceramics fabricated by uniaxial hot pressing. The short-wavelength transmission limit of zinc oxide ceramics is in the 370-nm region; the long-wavelength limit is determined by the free-charge-carrier concentration and lies in the interval from 5 to 9 μm. The total transmittance of such ceramics in the visible and near-IR regions is about
